View Full Version : Hosting hotels?

As many people hosts hotels, I want to know, in wich gamemode do you think it would be the best? Battle or treasure hunt?
And do you make / have you made hotles and do you host them?

I'm making a hotel,
I like them,
and I think they should be hosted in battle, because:

Good things:
You can kill annoying people, if they bump on you, shoot you, destroy your golf-shell...
It's more like real life!
Polices get more work. What would they do without criminals?

Bad things:

nothing. Hahahaa. }>

Bad things:

-Hotels are boring in any gamemode. Unless it's a hotel of high quality. That means no Polish hotels or something like you see in TSF.

speaking of hotels can someone make me a rick astley tileset?

also hotels in general are boring, but made properly can be fun. The main problem with hotels, however, is that their creators get bored of them quickly, and hotels last at most two weeks. Not only this, but people who frequent hotels get bored unless you continually add features.

The combination of the lack of new features and lack of interest by creators means all hotels are doomed from the start. However, the hotel gametype is probably the most hosted gametype, with new hotels created every day, each one crappier than the next. It's an interesting subject, really.

It would be like real life with friendly fire enabled. Ergo, I propose that hotels be hosted in CTF mode. Blue team for the police, red for the criminals.

Oh, well, then it wouldn't be a hotel... In hotel, thre are also civilians, not onliy polices and criminals.

IDEA! :
It would be a new gametype! Cop and robber! Let me make one...
:r Oh, wait a minute! Nope... We have bank robbery. Darn, just when I've thinked: We have new gametype, but theres' the bank robber...

Wait a sec!
I'll make a bank robbery level, wich looks like hotel (or bank...)!
( ^ optional idea...)

Hotels should be hosted in Treasure so you don't get roasted all the time. But as hotels are just like chatrooms to me, and I get bored when I'm running JJ2 only to chat, I don't like them. <!-- Police + civilians. Nothing better than police having to do no more than maintaining the roads. It is not easy to hurt someone in Treasure Hunt anyway. -->

That isn't true }> , I've been in hotel wich was hosted in battle for 30 minutes, I got roasted only twice.
Polices... uh... slaughtering criminals?
Yes, it's more fun:

Think this:
Criminal robs the bank. Cops do nothing, because they can't kill the robbers.

You know: we all want sometimes to kill someone. }> It's good to be done online in JJ2, because you don't get to Jail for 20 years for that! And for bonus, you see a fancy death-animation! :p

Jerrythabest
Aug 10, 2007, 12:55 AM
I won't get to Jail for 20 years anyway as you get released sooner than anyone expects in the Netherlands. Maybe because we have so many criminals and so little jails... ;p

Slaz
Aug 10, 2007, 07:46 AM
Jerry's fact about the Netherlands is true. So many Dutch people who visited this site have to steal a legal copy of Jazz2 cuz there are no original copies to find anymore, the police can't handle the situation and so our small jails are full way too quickly...

Jerrythabest

You haven't posted here in over two years.

Hotels should be hosted in battle mode, and killing should be encouraged. It is more fun that way. Running around and collecting coins is boring and can go on to no end. And being roasted doesn't affect chatting.

Jerrythabest

But hotels are about running around and collecting coins! That's what you need to buy space. AFAIK you lose your money when you get killed.

You do. That's the point.

Not that it's too big a deal, if you designed your layout and pricing system with competence. Rooms in Lifewater Lodge costed 500 coins, but it's easy enough to save up 500 coins in LL if you focus on collecting instead of fighting.

Isn't it more fun to collect coins while there is a risk of dying if you can't defend yourself?

So what do you consider fun? How about we just make games where you press a "win" button?

Seriously, if you remove the aspect of shooting other people in hotels, there's really nothing left than aimlessly running around collecting coins. Which gets old fast.

Must of em are just a bunce of free coins bank and low price low quality crap to buy.

There are legendary others, but they dosent seem to be that fun since never being hosted.

Hotels are the most boring thing. I disagree with Jerry. Cooperative which can be fun at times is way more fun than hotels. An all black level would be better than a hotel.

Jerrythabest
Aug 20, 2007, 12:41 AM
Well coop is certainly more boring online than hotels are (and than coop is in splitscreen).

Oh and thank you for joining me on the poll option. Now I'm not alone anymore.

Dermo
Aug 20, 2007, 10:31 AM
lol. I meant Coop online. Coop splitscreen's fun too because then you can talk to the player you're playing with face to face instead of wasting time on chat. But since there's 2 computers that i'm allowed to use on our network, my friends and i never play splitscreen. We play LAN.

Jerrythabest
Aug 20, 2007, 01:32 PM
Sometimes I prefer splitscreen. The only downside is that one of the players will have to use a joystick or weird keys and that you have only half the screen. And that you can see where the other one is. But still it just more sociable (gosh, is that a word?) when playing together on one PC. And with two keyboards you're not pushing against each other's hands all the time.

Yes, but it is boring.

Let's call the ones hosted in battle as The Ultimate Fun Fighting Hotels! Killing is fun, you know it is.

Netherland's jails gets full because of JJ2 warez?
Is that true? The only crime in Netherlands is pirate copying JJ2?

Some Hotels are quite boring. If you have TSF and visit a hotel it looks like crap. Some Hotels in the past where good. And if you going to host one you need to host it in Battle. Now if you don't want a freaking shooting war you can always make a rule about shooting. A few examples of a Hotel I made with Birdie are shown below. Once I get my internet connections working fine so I don't lag the heck out of myself I'll be able to host this hotel, along with another one me and Birdie made about 4 months ago. Untill then, you can use this as inspiration as making other hotels.

I don't like how many of the items look flat, and the ground should be a bit lighter, but otherwise neat.

Yeah, I mostly have issues with the sofas, tables, and chairs. The sofas just look weird and the other stuff needs to be more substantial or people won't be able to easily see it. Drawing hotelish stuff really small is easier, but it doesn't generally look as good.
