View Full Version : What's wrong with DTR?

The past few days I've been using DTR (http://www.jazz2online.com/tilesets)'s palette pages to help me a bit making a proper palette for Castube, and now I decided to check out the other sections again too. But many other pages and a lot of images are a complete mess! Just take a look at the Links page or the 'Final Extras' Tutorial page and you'll see what I mean. And maybe the downloads could be hosted somewhere else (on J2O, for example) too as www.beute.plus.com doesn't exist anymore either. It's sad that the best informative JJ2 site ever made has become such a mess. I hope there is a backup anywhere

I'm not 100% sure, but this was the only backup of DTR available, I'm afraid

It's not that much of a disaster since most of the really important information is still intact, most of the images that were lost can easily be replaced, and much of the original text can be found through the Internet Archive (http://web.archive.org/web/*/tilesets.hewwo.com).

Oooh thanks for reminding me ;) Maybe we should put it together again ;p it's really worth the effort.

What's the problem? Can't you read [][]/"; :,>\{}
Next thing you know you won't be able to speak Naboo, or something silly like that.

In the meanwhile there's this (which I forgot to add in my previous reply)
TeraLogic Texture Maker (http://www.jazz2online.com/tilesets/stuff/TTM32.zip)

I deleted DTR off hewwo.com in a crazed WoW powerleveling frenzy during my addiction ;)
Fun thing about that is I forgot I had no backup and the site was lost. However, later on FRANKENQUIST told me he had an old backup copy of the site back when it was hosted on j2o (a long time ago). I've looked at it and its pretty broken, but I just dont really care about keeping the site in shape anymore, so you're kind of stuck with the old broken one.
Most of the info is still there though ;)

So you wouldn't mind if others took the time to fix your tutorial?

In that case I'd better get started ;p
Maybe we may even keep it up to date, if you don't mind. I really meant it when I said it's the best informative JJ2 site ever.

I really don't mind what you do with it, it'd be great if people actually decided to fix it up from the sad state its currently in or even add to it whatever you like

I'd gladly help out if a fixing project ever got off the ground :)

I'll give a higher priority to Castube atm but I could collect the latest available pages of DTR already ;) hardest will be the downloads... they must be found somewhere ;p

I probably should've mentioned this sooner, but DTR is now mostly restored. Feel free to point out anything I missed.

that was fast. Now we just need to replace the broken images (example is the first image on the first palette page)

To what? The image? http://www.jazz2online.com/tilesets/tutorial/palette.gif
The DTR link is in post #1 and the link to the first palette page is on all of DTR's pages ;p

It's technically not something I missed in so much as something I didn't want to do at the time. I'll get to it eventually (assuming I actually have all the files).
Also, Jerry, I don't see anything wrong with the picture. All of the broken images have been either fixed or replaced by something similar.

Oh I see it's been fixed... I forgot to super-refresh the image (=clicking the refresh button twice (or thrice (or moreice)))

I added all of the contest entries except one. I'm hoping I managed to include all example levels and music files that were in the original zip files. All I need now is Violet's Small Factory.
