*gasp* I have actually made a thread here after a long time of not doing so. Just felt like sharing some of my work here, and maybe actually get a critique or two - or even a suggestion. It'd greatly help a lot. A lot of the stuff I might post is mostly sketches, since I don't even dare finalize them until I'm sure I'm satisfied with them.

Ryan Mackarnel (http://www.digitalsynopsis.net/stuff/ryanmackarnel.jpg) - My street fighter rabbit character, Ryan. Yes, she IS a girl. Kinda wanted to create a female character that wasn't so "girly". :)

Marcello Foxrid (http://www.digitalsynopsis.net/stuff/marcello.jpg) - Redesign of this guy (http://dalspots.deviantart.com/art/Foxrid-981562) (warning, horrible 2002 art ahead) : . He's no longer agent-y and all that, since I have enough agent-y characters already and I wanted to do some variety. So, this guy's name has been changed a little, and he's a Rock N' Roll artist now. The part Eagle thing, that will be explained if anyone brings the question up. He's also a chimera.

Perspective Practice (http://www.digitalsynopsis.net/stuff/perspectivepractice.jpg) - First try at a camera perspective. I'm hoping to get some useful criticism on this as I've tried to correct it a bit more with the help of Radium's tips, but I'm hoping to get some second opinions.

Rhythm (http://www.digitalsynopsis.net/stuff/rhythmwip.jpg)- Work In Progress Piece - Random sketch of my alter-ego laying down enjoying some music. Something about the perspective on this one does not make me happy.

Enjoy. Critique is very much so welcomed and would be nice. Oh, and here's a little hype for you people: I might be doing some JJ fanart soon. ;)

Nice work! I'm not so good at critiquing this level of art, so I'll just stick with my first sentance. Radium, would you...?

Aside my usual comments on DA, I'll just add a few words here as well.

:god:

I hope that explains it all. This stuff is awesome, really.

Is it just me or are your characters a bit short for the length of their legs? They come out as a bit chubby...
Everything else looks great. The camera angles aren't that bad either, but I don't know anything about perspective and the like.

More importantly: why does that fox have wings? Tell me! =))))))))))))))

As someone who is simply sick of all the glorifying of females being sticks in America (not sure if its the same elsewhere), I found that as one of the perks.

Well, that was soon. *wink nudge*

Ryan is... kinda attractive, really. The build works well for her. I have no real complaints.

Marcello, on the other hand, seems rather... weird. As it has been pointed out, his legs seem too long for the build of his torso... what really stands out, though, is the leg in front. The folds of the jeans in the crotch area along with its placement and weird position make it seem like it's growing out of a place further in the vicinity of his butt than it should. Simply put, the leg seems to start too far in the back of his body.
The rest of him is cool, though. He looks sufficiently gruff and Rolling-Stone-y.

The Perspective Practice... to be honest, I was a little scared when I first saw it. The tongue looked like a pair of big, round teeth to me. I think you'll see how that looks rather... bizarre.
In the end, I'm afraid Radium will need to inspect this one further and draw you a nice graph with guidelines and such... the only thing I can point out for sure is that her fingers look really small; you should have put her hands further apart and drawn the fingers somewhat parallel to the vertical lines of that... fence-type thing.

The last one seems a lot better to me. In fact: RAWR. *wink nudge nudge wink poke*
The one mess-up in perspective that I can see at first glance is the head. The roundness of the chin seems unnatural at such an angle. Mostly, it makes the head look too close to the shoulders, making it seem like she has no neck. I can't really tell whether that's just the round chin's fault or whether it's mostly the placement of the head... in fact, I might just be imagining the part about the chin. Hmm...

Well.... I hope that sufficed. *hugs*

Thanks guys, those should be helpful as looking back on them, I do understand what you mean..=D;

Looking back at the one of Marcello, you're right. ;| I didn't notice that till you pointed it out, and now it looks even weirder to me now that I see it. I *should* really fix that. :)

Haha, also... Man, the tongue. I do see what you mean there about the tongue, should probably fix that as well as it looks rather odd and makes me shudder now.

Ugh, I knew something seemed rather odd with her head in the last one... Just couldn't pinpoint it. I'm not exactly sure how I'd go about on fixing that though, as I'm not sure how I'd make it so it does look like she has a neck. =|

The only reason most of my characters look chubby is because I do intend them to be that way as I don't really like the whole "OMG THIN!!!!" thing, as n00b said. :P

As for your question... That's exactly the part Eagle thing in him. Long story short, originally he's a Lynx/Fox hybrid, but he's went through some complex transplants and DNA modifications as to compensate for the physical damage he's had from a life threatening accident. Being a chimera, it was the only way he'd survive.

This is more what I meant. The relation of the length of their legs to the body makes them look chubby. The best (and probably only) example for that is Marcello, who has too long legs.
Just to make things clear, I'm not one of those people who abolish every gramme of fat on a womans body (Allthough I do notice being somewhat influenced by that opinion). In fact, I even find Dals legs on that Rythm picture pretty cute. ^^

Radium, would you...?With pleasure ;D

First things first, I completely love your pencilwork and have always envied how well you do hands and feet D=. Also, you are amazing. Now that that's out of the way, I'm only going to specify bad things.

Ryan's arms are definitely too long - or at least her left one. If you presume her right arm (the one bent on her hip) is fairly flat against the "background", it's about the right length. The other, though... if hanging at her side, it looks like her hand would be by her knees.
Also, this is a really minor thing, but what is that line on her right lower leg? If it's her gastrocnemius, it's on the wrong side.

The problem with Marcello is, like Faw explained, that his left hip joint looks disconnected. Compared to his body and hips, it's way out to the side. Also, keep in mind with your male characters that the hips should usually be thinner than the guy's shoulders - wider hips are associated with women (it's one of several anatomical things that make them better at having babies).
Also, from a purely "character design" standpoint, I like the old Foxrid more. I understand he got a career change, but the new one is pretty... well, generic. The old one had a lanky form, energetic/upbeat expression, large "teardrop" ears, those little blue straps around his shoulders and neck, and even a wing ring, which is fun to say. The new one is just sort of standing there, wearing a leather vest and looking slightly angry (as people with leather vests usually look). Even the wings don't make him that recognizable, when you consider that like 90% of furries have wings.
A general test of good character design is seeing if the character is still recognizable - and visually interesting - in silhouette. Easily recognizable characters make things easier to follow and are more appealing. One of the reasons I can't stand the comic Megatokyo, for example, is because the only visual difference between the characters is their hair color.

You've already heard most of what I had to say about the perspective one. The main thing that stands out to me now is that her right eye isn't even with the left one.
Also, this is a criticism of your title: there's not much perspective in it. Her hands and feet are kind of smaller in comparison to her body, but the picture still looks like it was taken from 5-15 feet away. Better practice with perspective is to do some really, really, REALLY extreme closeups of things and characters (like, nine inches close) where the perspective is ridiculously skewed. It's actually really fun.

And for the last one, I pretty much second everything Faw said, but don't get too stuck on showing that she has a neck. From an angle like that, her neck probably wouldn't be visible anyway, and showing it would look unnatural. And nice job making the surface she's laying on bend in under her weight; I think this is the first time I've ever seen an artist I know do that right.
