This is a turn based strategy game for Nintendo DS which came out a few days ago in North America, and just yesterday in Europe (Australia and Japan don't have it yet for some reason). I have been playing it a lot and have to say it's probably the best game in the series so far. Especially because it now has online multiplayer, and even lets you trade custom maps.

I was wondering if anyone else on this forum has the game. A few people have posted friend codes in the jcf thread for that (http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showthread.php?t=16229) but I'm going to guess that at least a few people haven't posted there. In any case, feel free to use this thread for posting friend codes, but if you do, try to use this thread for discussion too.

I really want to play a match against someone from the jcf, so if you feel the same then message me on msn or find me in #jj2.

Here's a list of peoples who have posted their FCs so far. I guess I'll update this list if I find any more people who have the game.

I'm planning on getting the game soon, although I hear the COs suck this time around.

Well they are certainly toned down. In previous games, especially Advance Wars 2 and Advance Wars DS, some of the CO powers could completely change the course of the game. In DoR, the COs still have powers (passive and active, like before) but they have to be loaded onto an actual unit now, and have an area of effect as well as powering up the unit they are on. The area increases when they make kills, and decreases when they use their special powers. Overall it's pretty balanced now, which is good for a game that has online play.

I'm looking forward to this one for once, although the delay isn't exactly unexpected for here.

I liked the original Advance Wars. I just got a DS (the Zelda bundle edition) and need more games, so I'll probably get this one since you recommended it.

Definitely a more strategic game now. As compared to AWDS where you'd just wait until your tag meter filled up and then just unleash the entirety on the poor CPU. Highly recommended.

Neobeo beat me! Though I did avoid using a CO, which turns out was a bad idea.

I played a friend's copy and I recommend the game solely for this line: "Well I used to be a resident, but now I'm the President Hohohoho!"

That's right in between "Jill Sandwich (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuTpPF215AI)" and "Zombine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmDAOCTHwoM)" on the list of lamest video game dialogue ever.

I suck outrageously at strategy games, so I don't think I'll pick this up. I wasn't very good at the other Advance Wars games either.

I think this one has better music than the previous one, though it sounds a lot better on headphones than on the DS speakers, moreso than other games.

The music is by far superior, but doesn't mean that I don't miss Jake's theme :D

Just completed the game a few hours ago. Definitely a lot more difficult than its predecessors. Also much more balanced in terms of the different CO's strengths (except maybe Caulder). Too bad there's no Hard Campaign though, unless I missed something.

The last mission was so annoying. There's no hard campaign either, but at least there are about 40 trial missions (in place of the war room).

All of the COs are quite balanced, except for Caulder. He's extremely overpowered, but on the other hand, banned from online play. All of the advance wars game have an overpowered final CO.

I got the game. I've been playing the series since 2001 actually. I'm extremely disappointed, it's a good game in and of itself but I miss the old characters and all. I've been playing it quite a bit, it's a good challenge and it's a lot of fun, I just miss the old stuff. Like when you used to win a match, your CO would say, like, "YAYY!! Let's have a barbecue!!" (Andy) and now they say "Attend the wounded!" (Brenner).

But I must say overall I'm quite enjoying it despite the old CO's being taken out.

Bumping this thread since I finally got the game. My friend code's 365213-509664.

They really improved everything this time around. The graphics, music (always been top notch), the Sound room (available right from the start), even the COs are just better characters.

I'm a Will man, by the way. Mostly since I haven't unlocked the other COs yet.
