Any interest for a Tournament using some fresh concept? Since plus (http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showthread.php?t=17567) is out, I was considering of having a tournament in the near future with some of the custom game modes(Jailbreak, FlagRun, Assasination, etc.)

If the tournament is going to be for team, there obviously should be teams with 1-2 backup-players at least.

Suggestions, discussions, please.

JailBreak / AN / FR FTW.

I'd probably pick JB or AN though, and a 4v4 tourney. :]

A massive <s>clan</s> championship tournament in FR.
3v3 or 4v4 with backups (2-3)... and maybe team captains as well.

I don't feel like learning to play all over, so I'd like CTF or teambattle, or a gamemode which is combo of those.

FR ftw. Don't forget the backups. Better having 2 backuped teams then 6 non backedup-never-full teams.

I never even played assault so far (no clue why, just never happened) so assault should be it imo!

Thank you for your replies, people. It might be a suitable moment to start the tournament in May already, if we come up with some decent ideas. Although I created this thread, it doesn't mean I'd be volunteering to held the tournament alone. Anyone who has experienced a few tournaments already and knows JJ2+ well, can now sign up here more, or less officially.

I sort of agree with you about the tournament-type being either 3vs3 or 4vs4. Should it be clan or not, each team should still have more than the minimum amount of players to have a better chance for all matches to be played.

As soon as possible I will start a poll, where you can vote for your favourite gametype of the possible team-gamemodes.

By the way, I'll gladly help out with arranging.. I wouldn't be a good server evening time though, considering my connection

Same. :-)

I'd like to see JB Tournament. Maybe Death CTF could be fun to play too, but I've played too less in this gamemode to decide whether it's playable in tournaments or not. Also, I think that 3vs3 would be much better than 4vs4. Less laggy, easier to organize etc. I don't remember tournament in which 4vs4 worked fine. However, if it is JB or Assasination, 3 players per team is a bit too little.

I agree with Sasik, concerning Assasination.

However I'll be in Poland from 16 till 30 May. :o

Maybe make divisions for different gametypes, or have people/teams compete in multiple gametypes?

Most custom game types seem to be randomly biased on seldom occasions.
So I'm all for CTF, as usual.
FR could work, though, just because the concept idea is relatively awesome.

;0. I think this was partly organised to separate from the CTF addiction as a "custom gametype". Dunno though. :]

GroundForce ftw :) If there is going to be a CGM tournament with several modes, GF should be one of them ;p it's even better than jailbreak. Maybe I should somehow make a team groundforce level, I've been experimenting with it but it never really came to anything.

Just separate 3 or 4 similar GF "arenas" (in one level, ofc) and have one person from both teams battle in each. Then move on to the semi-finals and later, the final, if necessary (if all competitors aren't from the same team after any stage).
Then redo the round or do a new one, giving the winning team a point.

I might as well make an example level and write an article about this when I have the time.

Actually, I have a level I once made exactly for that purpose, if I got it right. I could edit that suitable to the GF-mode.

I like the idea of a GF tournament tbh.
A whole lot more people actually got a chance there.

Yay look I made a good suggestion =D

What I was thinking of, is seperating the teams at the start (so they can't kill one another) and then just throw them in one rather big destructable area (that is, spread out- JJ2 can handle a limited amount of destructable blocks so it will be a big level which isn't all that filled). After they have found the other team, points for the other team can be scored by killing an opponent and you can score a point for your team by falling out (teams should logically be of the same size because of this). When everyone is out, the team with the least points wins.

The level should function like this:
Scoring system:
-When the game has not been started yet, scoring points should be made impossible in any case by blocking the bases with triggered blocks that will be removed when the game starts. Just in case of lagginess.
-When warping players out of the level, they should pass the bases in the correct order to score a point (remember that points are bad- you score a point for your team when you die or fall out).
-When a player gets killed, the bases should be passed in this order too.

Start position system (tubes, triggers, mp-starts, both bases):
-if the game has not been started, put them in their team's pregame area (and set some triggers with trigger zones to make sure the player will pass the bases in the correct order after falling out).
-if it is a new player and the game has been started, put them in the circle-tube-with-gem-in-a-crate-thingy straight away.
-if it is a player that has died and the game has been started, let them score a point (by moving them over the bases in the correct order).

I could optimize my team GF 'level' and post a link here if anyone is interested.
