Since this technically falls under art (literature is an art) and it's not Jazz related, post your poetry here. Free verse, sonnets, quartrains, hell, even haiku, post your work!
Here's a poem I wrote while bored out of my skin in in-school suspension, for my love. :3
Constants
300 million miles from Sol
To Earth, a measurement known as AU,
Density equals mass over volume,
An equation, constant as I Love You.
Fibonacci, primes, perfect squares, and i,
Logic and numbers that stay and hold true,
Things that will never change, though some may try
To debunk the constant of I Love You.
Also, don't be shy to post yourself reading the poems. Poetry is best experienced while read aloud. And this coming from a guy who can only stand poetry from Langston Hughes, Robert Frost, and Ogden Nash.

Poem? Oh really?
A mockery of justice,
hidin' behind stuff.
Cold hearted haiku btw.

Oh, I see... I was expecting a contest. I wonder whether it would be possible to have a real poetry slam in a forum like this... Granted, I'm not entirely sure how a poetry slam works in real life. I've only been to one that wasn't so much a poetry slam as a bunch of hilarious awesome people performing artistic stand-up comedy. A real poetry slam is sort of like a rap battle without the dissing, right?
I'd love to read out some poetry, but I don't have any recent poems to present.

Ok, poetry contest. I donate 5 euros to the paypal account of the writer of the best poem. Prize only goes if there are at least 7 entries (1 entry per contestant). Judge is probably me, but if anyone got a better idea feel free to suggest.
Inspirational keyword: summer breeze. But feel free to deviate!

n00b's totally awesome entry:
I was facing an utmost delusion,
Peaked at its impeccable illusion,
A breeze thought from Summer's heart,
Was instead a passerby's fart.

Summer breeze
makes me freeze
so I had to squeeze
a lemon
(totally un-serious not-entry BTW)

I didn't really mean this to be a contest or anything, just an invitation for fellow JCFers to post their poetry (since I seem to have a passing interest in it now). I'm expecting stuff from Violet especially.

No, of course, I'm not trying to hijack your thread or something. Just trying to encourage people to post poems here, since I think it's a great idea, and contests in the art forum are cool :)

Literary masterpiece.
(-) the police
Coming straight from the underground
A young (-) got it bad 'cos I'm brown
And not the other color so police think
They have authority to kill a minority
Well (-) that (-) 'cos I ain't the one
For a punk (-) with a badge and a gun
To be beaten on, and thrown in jail
We could go toe to toe in the middle of a cell
(-)ing with me 'cos I'm a teenager
With a little bit of gold and a pager
Searching my car, looking for the product
Thinking every (-) is selling narcotics
