Probably the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life. I was glad I chose to see this movie over Hancock that day. What do you think?

I think the ending was gimped due to the fact that kids were going to see it. Other than that: amazing, film of the forever, etc.

I think the ending had to be that way not just because of the kids, but because it was partially an animated date movie. Half of the theatre (including myself) I was in were teens on dates. The other half were families bringing their kids. The disappointment and backlash that could have been brought would be a hundredfold that of the disappointment No Country for Old Men's ending brought.
Anyways, ranked just under the imcomplete cut of the Theif and the Cobbler on my list of greatest films of all time.

I'm hesitant to watch this movie because I'm not big on cutesy stuff (excluding Kirby), and WALL-E just looks stupid. However, I've heard only good things about the movie. Should I go see it?

The robot characters (well, the main ones, anyway) are definately cutesy, but the rest of the story is an amazing hybrid of action and romance in the best ways.

Cutest movie ever.
That robot reminded me of GLaDOS. In fact, most of the movie made reminded me a bit of Portal.

That robot reminded me of HAL 9000. In fact, most of the movie made reminded me a bit of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
came here to post this

That robot reminded me of DOR15. In fact, most of the movie made reminded me a bit of Meet the Robinsons.
Just so we get the entire HAL-esque Evil Robot trifecta here, the movie is nothing like MtR.

Anyway, very light spoilers below.
WALL-E pretty much became my favorite movie after I saw it. The main characters and their interactions were amazingly done. I found it all very well executed, and enjoyed the somewhat darker tone it had than most animated movies. Well, "darker" might be the wrong word; while it is a dystopian future, I feel that something that stood out more was that it didn't really have a "villain", at least not in the sense that most animated movies do.

On that last bit Radium, thats something that Pixar does in a few of its other films. I know they did it purposefully in Toy Story, and I think the story of Finding Nemo didn't really call for it.

I'm spoilering this mostly because I think the movie is most fun if you go into it knowing nothing other than "it has robots".On that last bit Radium, thats something that Pixar does in a few of its other films. I know they did it purposefully in Toy Story, and I think the story of Finding Nemo didn't really call for it.I forgot about Finding Nemo. And though I found the source on that bit about Toy Story, but it doesn't make any sense to me; Toy Story most definitely had a villain.

>>noes post has spoilers<<
I just came from the movie and saw this thread. I didn't really like the beggining, I thought the whole movie is going to be a silent "look it's a lonely robot and he is cute :((((" movie.
But it gut better and better each second. I really liked the first acquaintance with the humans. Is it only me or that black guy was the only black man in the movie? RACISM. I liked how Wall-E is an old Macintosh and Eve (that's the the white girl robot's name right? I saw it in Hebrew with my niece because she is bad at reading subtitles) is an iMac. And there were these Mac mice in the trash.
That Wall-E reminded me of R.O.B.. In fact, most of the movie made reminded me a bit of NES accessories.
so true

Iconguy, you can use a spoiler tag by placing {spoiler} and {/spoiler} at the start and end of your text respectively (also replace the {s and }s with brackets: [ / ])

Right, but it actually works as opposed to just saying "Spoilers" at the start.

Hey, no changing the topic to the elegance of chevrons D=

I really liked the beginning, but I agree it would've gotten old really fast if they didn't move on. I think a large part of the awesomeness came from the dichotomy between the first and second half, though.

Its really subtle. Wall-E makes a mac startup noise and Eve is merely based on Mac's products. Its not like in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy where the mac logo can be clearly seen on Deep Thought.
For what its worth, the the autopilot OTTO, which is the closest thing the movie has to a villain is voiced by Mac's text-to-speech program.
