View Full Version : Coming up: Duellist Cup II
Quickz
Sep 1, 2008, 01:14 PM
Yes, the second edition of the Duellist Cup is upcoming. It will probably be pretty much the same as the first edition, only with the deadlines being a bit more strict and the mappool being a bit less strict. Also, no groupstage, just a knockout-stage with possibly a lower-bracket.
Why now? Well, JDC just ended, players are getting bored and this seems easier to organize than a team-tourney (the last tourney was actually kinda finished ;D ) .. Don't sign up anymore :( ..

I've got a schedule for next week which makes me busy every day from 1PM till 11PM. Even Saturday, meaning I can only play on sunday/saturday eve. I am not sure about the rest of the upcoming weeks but it may still be the same stuff sort of. This gives you, Quickz, these opportunities:
1) You take the risk of me not being able to play cause of work, badminton and stuff (which can slow down the tournament.. Or maybe Im lucky and can play a lot ;p), or 2) You keep me out of the tournament and just give the spot to someone else.
Sorry for not having a clear schedule for the next month or so, I can only look 1 week ahead so far ;O.

However, since this is a "serious tournament", I suggest you don't throw any levels in based on your judgment alone. Not that I expect you to, really, just saying.

Well, sorry Ric :( .. Well, at least you know those levels, they are/were played a lot (I don't really like KMC either by the way) and that's why they are included. If everyone would say "I don't like this.." or "Add this.." there wouldn't be a mappool since everyone likes/hates different stuff.
I kinda think this mappool is kinda final, but I might add one more CTF (which won't be DW, by the way - we decided to not include that really unbalanced level ;D) but that's it.
Rules are coming up as well, but I can tell you now that the three battle levels are included only for the first two rounds of each bracket. That means you can, after those round, refuse to play battle, since CTF should stay the dominant gametype this tourney. Obviously, for the DW-lovers, if you can agree with your opponent on some other level which isn't in the mappool, you're obviously free to play that as well.

Alright, thanks. I was just wondering...it's round based right? And in this case, who would choose a 3rd level?

Nice joke. Yes, I wanna complain a bit about the mappool. In example, you included 'great' level - superconductor, which actually was played ONLY 2 TIMES during last JDC (yes, I have checked that). And you are the one who played it. I don't want to say that you include only levels which you like, but this does look like this. Taking into consideration your statement about making mappool, where are levels like MS, DW, GW, Zaitox or even Distopia (etc.)? :o

Haha, I feel that this refers too me. :) The mappool isn't bad, but I think you could just include more levels, to easily satisfy more people.

Vegito
Sep 7, 2008, 03:44 AM
More levels could be fun, maybe. GW is added btw. You just don't see the screenshot of it yet. You can still agree on levels which aren't in the mappool too, so I don't see much of a problem. Yeah, except for Superconductor, you got a good point there.
BBlair is far less unbalanced than DW, not really unbalanced.. Unbalanced isn't a good word for it, but campy maybe.

Okay, here are the things we (3/4 people + me) took in consideration while picking levels for the mappool (obviously not all of these points count for every listed level):
- The (by far) most played levels this JDC: JE, semi, BBlair
- Size which fits well for duels (KMC, super, GW, BBswing, AYB)
- Good neutral, symmetrical levels: SBv2, TT, AH
- Not too campy (all levels, except AYB, have moveable or multiple carrots)
Last DIT I hosted the duel SpR vs. Chiyu in DW. That duel really sucked (they both could confirm that), since they were both camping the carrot-box a lot, laming the whole game which took ages by the way. None of the people who discussed the mappool wanted DW in.
Oh, and Sasik, Rag actually kinda picked Superconductor and TT, while I added SBv2 and AH. And I said "DW-lovers" and not Sasik, now did I ;) ?

Just wanted to say, Quickz only agreed with Super conductor after I asked him to do so several times, kinda because I thought people would play it... If not... oh well, blame me. Anyway, here's why DW is NOT in the pool...
First up : The stupid spawn positions. It's so lame when you just kill the enemy and they spawn near your base and just capture before you score, and without the slightest skill. What's even more lame is when you expect this in reciprocation, but instead, you get given the start position which buys them enough time to score THEN capture the flag before you do.
Secondly : The level is quite large and a vast amount of useless areas which players won't go to; while this does not affect the gameplay or anything, I think it will just make duels longer if some twit decides to go there.
Thirdly : The carrot box. This one is almost self explanatory when I say box. I'm not one to be lame in duels, but that box is just begging to camped. While someone could fairly say: "I'll shoot electroblasters from outside", who's to say the camper isn't gonna do the same to the people outside? It's just screaming camp, and some players are a lot more lame than you can imagine. You can just repetetively keep shooting RFs up at the warp target and the person would warp in and bang bang bang bang bang. This wouldn't be too much of a problem, but the fact that there are often so many RFs in that box, he can probably maintain the RF spam long enough for the person to stop blinking in midair... leaving them totally helpless and practically as good as dead.
4) There is one PU, and if someone is smart enough, and makes the first kill, he can pretty much dominate the level. I recall a duel vs FS in this level. You can just keep hogging everything and be totally immune if you deal the first blood.
5) I honestly hate this level, and people who really wanna play here, should be good enough to convince their opponents to agree. Quickz never said it wasn't allowed totally.
Stijn

Oh, superconductor is in? Too bad I didn't sign up :(
Quickz
Sep 7, 2008, 04:35 AM
Anyway, DW is a good level, but the carrot box-concept really doesn't work that well in duels. In teamgames players without a flag could try to kill a camper there, but if you'll do that in duels you'll instantly lose points. But let's discussing the mappool, it's there now (with two extra levels) and it's gonna stay like this. So asking for some levels really is useless.
And haha, for MS, I bet you never played valmango there ;) .. I kinda have some difficulties doing the draw, but I guess it'll be up this evening.

two carrots => good duels

Why don't you just include all 'good' CTF levels into the mappool. I understand you didn't put DW in there because of the campyness, but this way levels like MS, Distopia and NiN are put into a worser position than the other levels like them because your opponent first has to agree to playing them. I think that if you just include all good levels everyone is most happy as more people are able to chose their favourite level (its round based anyway) and also 'home made bad levels' are this way totally excluded.
Also valmango became good in MS partially because of me and I wanna become better in it than him again.
I hope you can put the draw on here today, you have 3 hours left...

RULES
It's kinda late and I want to sleep :( anyway, some rules you'll need when you want to start duelling instantly:
Rules for the business before the matches
- Players can see the opponents they have to face on the schedule. The players themselves are responsible for contacting the opponents and planning the matches.
- It should be a time when both players are ready for the match and when they have enough free time available (each match consists out of two or three rounds (although the different rounds can be played at different times, if both players agree). The match should be played before the deadline of a round.
- The level may be a level from the DITv2 Mappool, but anything else can be taken as well. You can't argue about a level which is in the mappool.
- Matches should be played with a neutral host, but one of the players could eventually host if both players agree. Be sure to find a host with a stable connection, a good know-how of the tournament, who is absolutely unbiased towards both players and who uses the right programs (and possibly hamachi).
- If both teams agree on all points, they can play the match at the decided time, on the decided maps with the decided host.
In-game rules
- Once players have entered the server they get a while to collect ammo for the match. Player should be at base at the time the match starts, without having the opponent’s flag.
- Players are not allowed to use any cheat tools, or other kinds of software which gives them a slight advantage over the opponent. ANY player caught cheating (of course, if this is supported with clear evidence from both the host and the opponent – screenshots are preferred) the player ill be DIRECTLY DISQUALIFIED from playing in this season, and in any related tournament for the next year. Arguing about a ban is not allowed.
- Inappropriate language, use of racist/fascist terms and other vulgar words are strictly prohibited (it doesn’t matter if one player says the S-word or F-word a few times, but not too much).
- Complaining about lag is allowed as long a it is well supported and appropriate (terms as “(-)ING LAG (-)(-)(-)” aren’t appropriate).
- You can't leave midgame. After both players agreed on a host you can't stop the game, unless your opponent agrees on finding another host. Just leaving the server because of lag will mean the other player will automatically win the round.
Matches
Each duel consists out of two or three games (it's best of 3). Both players pick one level (it's adviced to use the mappool, but if you can convince your opponent you could pick something which isn't in it). Games are till 5 points. If the score is tied after two games (1-1 in games) a deciding round should be played (so 5-0 4-5 isn't a 9-5 win for one of the players, the score is round-based). You can agree on a level with your opponent, but if you for some reason can't agree on anything an Official (Qz, Rag or SJ) will pick a level from the mappool, which you can't argue about.
If the match has been played, it should be verified at the tournament’s supervisor. This can be done through e-mail or MSN. As soon as possible after the verification, the duel will be added in the DITv2 Database. Also, the Brackets will be updated as soon as possible as well. Verification needs the following data: Player 1, Player 2, the host, the maps, roundscores, final score.
Problems that might occur, and their solutions
- It could always happen that a person is not online at MSN for a long while or doesn’t respond to any emails sent to them. In that case, the other player should contact an Official. An e-mail will be sent to the non-replying person. If this person doesn’t reply within 48 hours, he or she team loses the duel. In case a person’s computer is broken (which could happen), he or she needs to send an email as soon as possible. In that way we can still arrange some things before the tournament moves on. If there isn’t any solution, the player will have to leave the tournament after all.
- Players can’t play on certain times because they are away, and while they’re home, an other player is gone. If there’s no way a match time can be found, contact an Official and he will try to arrange a decent time. If still no arrangement can be found, the Official will investigate which player has the most available free time spots. The player with the most free time will receive a forfeit win.
- If a map agreement cannot be reached (for a deciding 3rd round), an Official has to be contacted and he will pick a random level from the mappool.
- In case a good host cannot be found, an Official needs to be contacted – he will try to find a good neutral host, which the players have to accept.
- If it occurs that a player doesn’t want to play a match, the Official will come into play and will ask the refusing player in a 3-person MSN Convo if he/she really doesn’t want to play and why, and if he really refuses, he or she will lose the match. If both players refuse to face each other because of problems, the Official will do a coin flip.
- A player has left the tournament for any reason. In this case, the other player will receive a forfeit win on automatically. However, if this occurs while the leaving player hasn't played any game yet, he or she may be replaced by some other player, who didn’t came through the signup phase. Replaced people may return in the Loser's Bracket if an other player forfeits.
- MSN is down so players cannot contact each other through that. In the rare cases that this occurs, you can just wait for MSN to be back up soon, and arrange the match then. To prevent being pushed into the deadline because of these problems, try to arrange the match as soon as possible. Also, other methods can be used, such as a thread on the Jazz Cominuty Forums, an IRC Convo, ICQ, e-mail, phone calls, SMS, a letter, or smoke signals.

I forgot to mention this, but as you can see the mappool contains 11 CTF's and 3 battles, which are Battle Game XC, Abandoned Robotics Factory and Starlight Falls II.
Capture the Flag is, like in edition one, the dominant gametype. That's why we decided that the battles are only part of the mappool during the first two rounds of the Winner's Bracket and the first three rounds of the Loser's Bracket.
Example:
Veg wants to play ARF in his first round against Napo. Napo can't refuse playing it at that stage, since it's in one of the first two WB-rounds. But if Veg reaches the Semi-Finals and he wants to pick ARF, his opponent ( for example Ana) now can refuse playing it, since it's the fourth round.
P.S. Ofcourse you can play battle in the final stages, you'll have to convince your opponent though :D ..

Well, I won against Nap sort of.
GW 5-3 I believe, BBlair 3-5 and SBv2 5-2.
A lot of bad luck on my side in BBlair. Or just not concentrated enough.
Anyway, he was lucky enough at a lot of points to kill me or recapture so fast he'd score immediately again.
GW was sort of a slow start and ended 2-3, even though I was leading 2-0. Then got more of the upper hand and got 3 kills in a row.
SBv2 was the laggiest duel of them all, I never gotten into troubles there really, unless it was his rushing again.

CzEcH vs. Quickz: (1-5, 5-1, 5-4)
Okay, first level was superconductor with Dragon as host. He scored the first point I think, but I quickly controlled the level and won 5-1.
Then Dragon hosted BBlair. I was leading 4-2 (so I needed one more point for round 2) when CzEcH was complaining about lag. We decided to let Fox host and CzEcH really wanted to start all over again. Stupidly I agreed and lost with no chances really.
Then I insisted to let Robee host the final round, All Your Base. This kinda sucked, since I had an air and ran out of seeks at 4-4. Then I had to go down (he was spamming seeks as well), he could take the car and well, I was pretty much doomed.
Finished matches this far:

I think the problem of interpretation is this:
What Quickz means: the duels are best 2 out of 3, meaning that first person to win two games takes the match. This implies a score of 2-0 (2 games), or 2-1 (3 games).
What some other people seem to think: they interpret the sentence "Each duel consists out of two or three games (it's best of 3)" in the following way: that it's best if the matches consist of three games. I don't think this is what Quickz intended though.
On an unrelated note, Dragon and I are working on our duel, I swear. Unfortunately, the first installment of this wonderful and epic battle turned out to be a big bowl of suck, as apparently more than half of my kills were either 3hks or didn't show up on his screen, causing us to give up halfway through the duel and pray to the entities above that his connection will perform better at a later time.

PurpleJazz vs Sasik (5-4, 5-4)
Wow, this was fun. Both of these matches were extremely close, but I still just managed to pull through =P.
The first level we played was JE (my choice). Sasik was leading 0-2 to start, which forced me to try much harder than I was at the time. I had to play quite defensively, as Sasik was quite aggressive at times. I got the score up to 2-2, then 3-2, then Sasik scored an equaliser. At the end the score was 5-4 to me. I kinda won by a thread, since I was would have died by Sasik's seeks and would have lost the duel if my RFs had missed. =P Was pretty lagless the whole way through, Enig hosted.
The 2nd game was Sasik's choice, in AYB. This duel went much quicker than the other, as AYB is one of those levels that can rely on lucky Seeker hits. Both of us Seeker spammed to high heaven. Sasik got one rush on me earlier on in the duel, which could have been prevented but I didn't but meh. The duel was very close and exciting like the previous one, resulting the same score as last time, 5-4 to me.

I was wondering if I'm allowed to quick advance to the next stage and duel Czech already tomorrow, for instance?
Yeah, if you and your opponent want to play your next match as soon as possbile (even before the first deadline) you're definitely allowed to play it. Some people have some changing schedules and/or some other things to do in 2 weeks, so it would be good if they'd finish their second round matches already.
I'm aware of the fact that some parts of the brackets will be far ahead of other parts, but I don't really see a problem in that. Anyway, for the others: don't feel rushed, it's just to avoid problems in the next rounds. The deadline of the 21st still stands.

I finished my duel vs Czech.
5-4 to me in Security Breach v2(my choice)
COMMENT: I learned something new from the duel here between me and GP yesterday, so I decided that it could fit into this duel. Bad choice rather, since he was far more stronger here than I expected, although he says that he rather dislikes this level. Anyway, he took a 2-0 lead from me after playing 0-0 for a while. I then came back to 2-2 by roasting him from the same place twice(next to Seeker PU). The game would then turn 4-3 to him again, although I could have avoided those deaths. I just played risky instead. Somehow I then took the last 2 points by taking control of the main carrot. Really close.
5-3 to Czech in Knightmare Castle(his choice)
COMMENT: A note that he was going for Atom Heart 243.5, until he found out that I made the level. As he then picked KMC, I was eased that I won Sb2, because I knew that KMC can be very random against anyone and I had a chance to lose there as well. It then seemed that I ended up playing too risky and carelessly because of that. He scored mainly by rushes though.
5-0 to me in Happy Semiconductor CTF(Compromise)
COMMENT: I can't remember many games where I would have had as good luck as here. Sometimes my purpose wasn't even to roast him, but still he got killed accidentally. Or then I just wouldn't know he had low health. He was near to rush a score as red, but I could catch him still around the center of the level. For once he got trapped into the seeker box. Even my last kill was mega luck although I can't remember it clearly anymore.
A good game overall. He was clearly more lagged than me in Slaz's server(thanks to him for hosting), but while he sometimes got aired, his lag also prevented me from killing him, once he should have died for sure. So I don't think I had such a big advantage after all. Also good luck to LB, Czech.
See you on next weekend again, people! :)

Okay, good to hear that R3p! And congratulations to SJ for being the first to reach the QF's.
I played against Slaz since he can only play in weekends + I'm busy next weekend. He picked Battle Game XC, my pick was JE. Score: (5-1, 5-1)
The 1st point in Battle Game XC took quite some time, but then points got faster. I controlled the carrot in JE while hitting him fast and predict his moves well, giving him little time to recover. He scored in both levels at 4-0. Anyway, good game.

Agreed, Battle Game XC was not what I expected (3 carrots yeah) and my point in JE was kind of done with a noob tactic (camping while shooting seekers towards the carrot).. Still a good clean duel though! ;)

I want to remind all people who still have to finish a match in the 1st round of the next two rules:
- Players can’t play on certain times because they are away, and while they’re home, an other player is gone. If there’s no way a match time can be found, contact an Official and he will try to arrange a decent time. If still no arrangement can be found, the Official will investigate which player has the most available free time spots. The player with the most free time will receive a forfeit win.

Maybe the player that first played(and lost), as you said it only gives disadvantages playing first otherwise.
And then you can give the player who didn' t got through the signup place the losers bracket place.

Well, I'd say: take a look at pages 2 and 3 of this thread and you can see why these levels aren't included. And well, you can choose either Battle Game XC or battle1 from now on, both are 'in the mappool'.

B1 XC is fun. I know from experience you can use the spring at the top right to surprise your opponent, the extra carrot makes the level more fast paced, but not so much the b1 gameplay is lost.
One level I suggest getting rid of is KMC. It's based on mostly luck and lag. It's like asking for a random win or loss against anyone.

Yeah, well.. I suggest you wait some more, sorry ;[ .. There's one duel to be played in the first round of the WB - rather wait till that's finished and then you'll be sure who's your next opponent.
Results this far:
WB (4/8):
Vegito d. Enigma (5-1, 5-3)
Snooze d. Sperry (5-3, 5-1)
valmango d. Ragnarok: (5-0, 3-5, 5-0)
Vivando d. CzEcH (5-4, 3-5, 5-0)
Ric d. Anubis (5-4, 5-3)
LB (3/8):
Quickz d. Slaz (5-1, 5-1)
Sasik d. Ktos: (5-2, 5-2)
R3ptile d. Enigma (5-2, 5-2)
And @ R3p: You're already one round in front of everyone, do you really want to make that two? (I don't mind, but you might have to wait a little bit longer later on..)

You both must be really pathetic to write something like this, to get back here.R3p even hasn"t my msn, he is Israelian and a VSer like Nonomu, also he is used to be reliable more than me after he"s playing much longer (this should explain what r3p wanted). The truth is I asked nonomu about 3-5 times to duel while he was online but he didn"t reply.Once he said his sister was on his pc and once dunno why he didn"t.Then 1 day I asked him again when he could duel he said now I can (so he said just once and I asked him not he me), but then I wasn"t able to, so we dealed to duel at 21:00 GMT+1.I came before than I thought so I was asking him to duel then.He was online again but he didnt reply what can confirm Rag and Qz.So he was idle even at 21:00 GMT+1 and after I saw it I left.
Anyway, nonomu and r3p you won.Now I"ll withdraw and you can replace me against Warrior.
Good luck and if somehow you will get idle and I wouldn"t wonder, blame him for everything like you did me.

Okay, well..
Before we continue this tourney some things have to be solved first. In theory you can however still play your scheduled matches (see the schedule), but I think it would be good for the tourney if we don't use this thread for a few days - it will be re-opened in some days, if those things have been solved. Thanks for your patience and sorry for the inconvenience.

Re-opened.
A few results of the past few days:
Defending champion Vegito defeated fellow CC'er Snooze in three games (5-1 1-5 5-1) and is now only 3 wins away of his second consecutive DIT-win. Another two CC'ers, Ric (WB) and Anubis (LB), advanced with both winning 5-4 in a decider: Ric against Squirrel (5-1, 1-5, 5-4) and Anubis vs. Napo: 5-2, 1-5, 5-4. Also, Rew and MoNux finally managed to play their first round duel in the Winner's Bracket. Rew won - after convincing victories for both players in their own levels - in a neutral third one, which I picked since they *surprise surprise* couldn't agree on any level: 3-5, 5-2, 5-3. The winner plays Warrior saturday and then they're back on schedule again ;D ..
Eh, also, I want to ask the people in the LB to wait with finishing their QF-matches there. Those people are:
LB Winner QF #1 - Snooze
LB Winner QF #2 - WB Loser QF #2
LB Winner QF #3 - WB Loser QF #3
R3ptile vs. Squirrel
As soon as there are 6 actual players above you can start playing. I think it's just nicer if all matches in the final rounds are played around the same time. Thanks!

Okay, so I beat Val.
5-2 (Jungle's Edge) 4-5 (Medieval Skyscrapers) 5-0 (BBlair) ..
Well, at JE I had a lot of luck. I played well with the carrot and so Val never got to know where it was or even see it. At some point he asked where it was even. Anyway, I by accident stopped at 4-1 already giving him a chance to gather ammo and push me into a corner after I recaptured.
At MS I was leading 4-2, even though I got pretty frustrated at the start as he played well. I thought I had this match, and so I guess I started to play unconcentrated or whatever o.O I experienced a few airhits in a row too, giving him a chance to run over me and making it 4-5 in no time. I think he scored 3 points in a row within 5 minutes. Good job there, I'm not easy to beat at MS ;p.
Anyway, he would have wanted Semi as the last level, but I preferred BBlair as I had experienced a bit of lag during both matches and didn't want to lose the match cause of it. Semi got 1 carrot and obviously is a lot more lag based. He didn't expect BBlair it seemed, and by pushing him all the time and playing very offensive he never quite stood much of a chance. I do believe he could have played better, he had some good tricks here. I got him quite a few times by playing with the carrots again.

Rag is now 100% responsible for the part of Loser duel #5 (Lejdi) till Loser duel #8 (Ana). Which kinda means he makes all decisions there, from neutral 3rd levels till forfeit wins etc. I will still take care of the rest of the tourney, but well, I kinda lost the motivation to take care of this particular part of the schedule.
Also, SJ vs. Warrior wasn't played this weekend, which kinda means that it should be played next Saturday when possible, since both the winner and loser of that duel should play their next duel also that weekend (otherwise they'll get behind).
Anyway, thanks to you all, since I'm quite pleased with how the tourney's progressing till now. Good job ;) ..

Like Val, Warrior, Ric, Anubis, Czech, Robee, Lejdi, Mati, Yasco. They barely ever check this if at all. E-mailing works well if you're using MSN, as when you log in it tells you you got 1 new email. (And everyone uses MSN basically.)

Nobody chekcs their email often. I think PM's and posting here might be a better solution if the player is not around msn.
Yeah, I know ;) but this post was to show the people who are interested in it that something's being done about it.

I and Warrior are now finished. Ktos hosted rounds 1 & 2, but since he started lagging during the 2nd round, we switched to Robee for the tiebreaker.
We began with BloodBunny's Lair. I was gonna play as defensive as possible at first, but soon realized I had to really move through the level a lot and abuse warps as much as possible. Often I jailed him to the left side of the level, and that way I made some of my scores. He had good opportunities also though. Final score was 5-1 to me.
In Jungle's Edge I kinda stupidly ran into his traps at the bottom, and he took a 3-0 lead. I then began to play more defensively and as well, tried to attack him behind more. We both had mega lags here though, and especially I couldn't really evade his shots at all because of that. It kinda ruined the round, which he still controlled. 5-1 to him.
We had a tiebreaker in Happy Semiconductor CTF, that was a real thriller. Fortune was mostly by my side, I stole the carrot often right in front of him, but still I couldn't use my opportunities to roast him. I took it into 4-1, and thought I could already relax, but no. He really took me out as I got hit by him continously although I healed myself. He took 2 scores in a streak and I was afraid that I would collapse. Right after his 3rd score I did the most desperate rush attempt, and by some miracle it succeeded(I rf'ed him while he was in the air, and bypassed him to my base. ;d) 5-3 to me here.
A good game overall. Good luck to Lower Bracket Warrior, and hello to Riccardo.

Alright, I just duelled SJ.
1st Round: BBswing 5-3 to SJ
We started playing in Lejdi's server where I won 5-3, but I decided to re-play it since kills were just random and no fun at all. Then cryomancer hosted. At 3-3 I had to go...whatever, I came back with no concentration and he won 5-3 in no time.
2nd Round: BBlair 5-2 to SJ
I found this round fun, SJ was very unpredictable both when he had to hide if he had 1 and when I had 3 and catching me, so it was something like a challenge for me. We should play more often here^^
very gg, and good luck SJ through the finals :)
Sidenote: I was listening to Iron Maiden while playing this, while I listened to Metallica in all the others. That's a reason!

I and Ric dueled a moment ago as well. Thanks to Cryomancer for hosting.
Ric chose Swingin' Jazz as his level that we started with. Lejdi was hosting first, but we soon noticed it lagged hard, yet our pings were reasonably low. He won that round 5-3, but since it didn't really make sense, we then switched to Cryo and restarted the round. It was quite fast-paced, and we kept scoring in turns. No matter how weird it might sound, but at 3-3 we both had a LUNCH BREAK. Meanwhile it apparently made Ric lose his concentration a bit, I felt now more fresh after eating. In the end he was quite close to make it a win for himself, but it still became 5-3 to me.
Second round was also a BloodBunny's level, the warm and familiar Lair, that I picked. This round was really exciting, and unordinary one. I kinda underestimated him here, and thus was often in trouble with 1 heart, but I could avoid him enough right when needed to heal myself. It was also hard to catch him, since he often only barely saved himself by warping a second before my weapons would hit him. I got really frustrated how he once made me bypass the right carrot just when I was about to grab it. Apparently he was shooting RF from the left that missed me, but instead made the carrot "jump" so that I ran below it and died because of that. After the game he told, that it was hard to know my position. Well, I admit that he was just as unpredictable as well, I sometimes just luckily guessed where he was and roasted him. Score: 5-2 to me.
A great, enjoyable game. I hope the WB Final will be a neat event too. Good luck on your journey Ric. We meat again VeG. ;)

Spontaneously also I and Veg just played the WB Finals. Thanks to Snooze for hosting.
I somewhat expected Veg's choice, that was Jungle's Edge. There we began our fight. Quite soon he took a strong lead, and I could counter against him really a lot. He always got to hold the top of the level and somehow hit me at positions that didn't benefit me. Although I few times controlled, then he somehow sneaked me and I got engaged. I then was pretty much relying for round 2. I pretty much stood no chance here. 5-1 to him.
In BloodBunny's Lair, that I chose once again the game was way more closer. My estimating skills sucked here for some reason. It was 0-0 for a while, until he did the opening score. I tried to rush right after it, but he then spawned right next to me and prevented it. He was going to hog PowerUps as much as possible, and so I had to often sneak them for myself. He often hided to the top-left of the level when having low health, but mostly I got hit also, so that it was too dangerous to charge into him. At 3-1 to him the game pretty much got clear already when I waited for PowerUps at my base and failed to capture. It sometimes felt like the carrots would take ages to respawn, because he kept taking them all the time, although I couldn't always notice it. That was his 'tactic' he had planned against me, so I would have as least knowledge about things as possible. Yet I sometimes arrived to carrots only a second late or so. He took them right when my bullets were about to roast him. Don't know is that luck or what. 5-2 to him here.
An intense Grand Final. I feel I could have done much better if I had prepared more carefully, or if we played next weekend instead. It felt a bit rushed, like my duel against Ric too. Well, I guess he was just better this time and I still learned something from this match. Now the Lower Bracket should speed up some. ;)

Hm, so as SJ said already I won.
There wasn't much to say about JE as I sort of knew I would stand a really high chance there against him. Heh.
At bblair I wanted to use the same tactic as against Val. I would try to get hit so much that I would always be taking carrots. At one point Val asked if C's respawned (which they did.) SJ seemed to never see them either because of me. This obviously resulted in some dangerous situations for me too cause there barely ever was a carrot and I would at times be low on health too xD. I generally felt like I controlled the match the entire game which he didn't appear to be expecting o.O. Neither I expected this to happen at BBlair though.

Nah, depends on the level. In some levels you might survive even 2 minutes! :D

I just finished my duel with Mati. It turned out to be a three rounded match. All of the rounds were played in Semi. I won the first (exciting) game with a 5-3 score. Then we played another and this time Mati won 5-4, quite surprising. First two rounds were played on Veg's server(thx <3).
Today we played the tiebreaker. It seemed like I had a bad day. I was unlucky and I made stupid mistakes which gave Mati a quick 4-0 lead. Then I realised I had to play different and I came back to 4-3, but I couldn't beat him as he played really really really defensive(no offense). Anyways, good luck against Warrior! (Thx to Ric for hosting, btw)
