I think I am very interested in your idea, but I must confess I don't fully understand what it is. Could you possibly elaborate?

I think he's talking about something like a JJ2 webradio station to listen to while you play. At least, that's my interpretation.

jj2 webrabio should do also but the fun fact to my idea is that u dont need it installed to jj2 only a lil tool that disables jj2 music and switches to the radiostation

For the record, if you want to listen to a music that a server plays then you have to download it. This does not necessarily mean saving it to a file, but streaming also counts as downloading. Having a jj2 server host and upload all the music would cause tremendous lag for players. Having a special webradio server would partially solve the problem, but you might want to consider the fact that not every player can setup his own webratio station easily.

Why not just make a special station at last.fm? People who want to hear the music the hoster selected can listen to it there.

I often like the music that comes with the level. I don't need a webradio to listen to whatever hardcore-trance-host is listening.

And the music that comes with the map, mostly fit the map.

yeah but its not will it work or lag , sure it will lag slightly , sure it brings problems but the concept is great , if u keep building on this concept it will once completely good work fine , thats why i say it needs to be a program that only recieves music so i wont lag , us u know upload slows a server not download

So... Windows Media Player?

I think he means (you can never be certain with this guy...) we should have a music player that is told by the server which songs to play... as in, you still got to own the music yourself, but if the host changes music, a signal is sent to your player that changed to the song the host selected.

I think you're right Crimi.

I myself think this program Stijn pointed at is pretty neat. How strange it only got a 1.7 :O

It comes close to what shaney suggested according to Crimi, with the only difference beging that shaney wants the host to select the music that is played while this program gets its instructions from the level files.

So... if that's correct, then I think that this program will actually be a lot better than shaney's idea, as you don't have to listen to the kind of music the hosts listens to while you are still certain of hearing music whenever you don't have the level's 'primary' music file.

Blur, go talk with these guys and implement that into JJ2+. That would be one perfect feature.

Well the mp3 streaming works flawless for all I know who have tried it:

JJ2mp3 Support (http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/downloads/info.php?levelID=5295)

This work, but use too much CPU. Sfaizst is developing a new player and a program similar to Plus. It's still a beta with some bugs, but you can try it here (http://jj2m.de.vu/). Sfaizst works hard to fix all bugs and add new features. A good feature is the /cm and /cmg commands (Change Music and Change Music Global (server only)).

We should have a music player that is told by the server which songs to play... as in, you still got to own the music yourself, but if the host changes music, a signal is sent to your player that changed to the song the host selected.
Crimi and Shaney, see the /cmg command :D

And please give JJ2mp3 support a better rate, it's a great utility!

I was only explaining Shaney, really. I don't need my music changed by the server. I can do it myself if I find the need to do so.

Hmm... makes me think, you could use that kind of spam to get 1.20 people to J2O, having them upgrade to 1.23+. Just throw it into every 1.20 server each hour or so.

There was a tool long ago that displayed a message in all servers ever hour or so. (http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showthread.php?t=13884)

Yeah, I remember that one. That's back in the time ASD was just as popular as JJ2+ is now.

You hate spam, don't you? Imagine me spamming servers, advertising some game that's superior to JJ2, just so it gets more players. It's wrong. And if those '1.20 people' haven't looked for J2O yet, I don't think they show much interest in JJ2.

And I was right, this program spams.

When someone is using it, upon joining a server it will send this message. Accept my apologies if there's some way it can be disabled. Though I still find it wrong to have such a 'feature' enabled by default.

This is only to see stats and what users are using it, it will be a on/off function in future, as I said this is a BETA.

That was fast. But it's still enabled by default, isn't it?

It's disabled by default! :-) The "future" is already here!
