Ok so we got Sfaist and Zeal's servers. Fun for a while. Then boring. People have been hosting battle1 for a good decade now. Boring. Aside from that, most servers are tests or hotels.

I have yet to see a good Ground Force level being hosted. The only type of tests that were ever any fun were foo races and team foo. i loved team foo. But nobody hosts it.

Also, somebody was hosting EvilMike's episode not too long ago. Amazingly fun playing in coop mode. But you don't see that much anymore.

Where's the interest? I mean it's not like the community is lacking any good new original levels or ideas. So what is it then? What's keeping people from hosting them?

(my new router's what's keeping me now)

The Foo Races dedicated server app stopped working as of ...Windows XP ;(

...It was actually a batch file, and I am just lazy. :'(

If the router didn't give me problems every time I tried to host I would play more often!

It doesn't work, because only the host can take damage, there's a bunch of stuff that breaks with more than 1 player (like one level which requires you to get 50 out of 60 coins - what happens if both players get half the coins?) and of course death pits which do not work AT ALL if played online.

Of course, it's up to players how they choose to play it. Still, it's a very strange way to play, and probably not even possible in some levels.<!>

Im usually hosting things like ground force or other gametypes. Problem is I cant host normally so I need to use hamachi if people want to join. And eh... ground force isnt really fun with 2 people (Once I had 6 people, but thats once and its still not much).

If I was able to host you would probably see many different gametypes in my server and maybe semi-plus-only times to host gametypes that requires a bit teamwork.

Hmm, i had some time ago the iea to host my 24h hosted server in mixed gamemodes, now i see this thread and have a beta release of JJm* finished (for linux) and so i can make it, a mixed Gamemode server.

Supported gamemodes would be:
Coop (bugs with cycling fixed, for heart loosing clients need my CoopBugFix or JJm*)
Treasure (Test, Survivor, Race,...)
Battle (like it was before)
(CTF (I think we still have a ctf server we not need 2)

Not supported are Plus gamemoes at the moment (i need to find out how i can say the plus.dll loaded in JJ to change to the gamemode)

So please make a big lvl pack for The Server, i not have the time to manage it because i have school and have to lern the next time, it would be nice if there would be a person that can collect all lvls (and tilesets plz)

*JJm is a tool in beta state written by me, its a external programm but in the concept similar like plus, some player think it only know how tospam but it have a lot useful functions and coop bugfixes, JJm can be downloaded at JJ2m.de.vu

You wanted to said 2.23 servers. It depends what do you mean when you said ''A fun server''. Some peoples would like to play tests, hotels, battles with one life, lrs, duels etc. Old is pretty much said. ''Old'' servers (like you're coop episodes) are and will be. Personally, I hosted JJ2 adventure levels (all) from 2.23 2 days ago. And just to know, races have bugs at Jazz Online. When someone win a race, he is automatically kicked from server (except for admin). Much peoples said 2.24 players are noobs playing theese ''non-fun'' levels (did I said I'm one of them?). If you don't like this stupid 'attraction', play Single Player or with your friend. Trust me its really more fun than an admin who is doing 'the rules'.
(Sorry for my bad English)

As a sidenote, The Server is nonplus and "The Server" is no longer logged onto hamachi in the JJ2Net network (or at least in JJ2Net2, which I'm logged on to), which means people like me with finicky routers will CTO.

I want to upload the new plus version when a lvl pack is finished, i know the problm with hamchi and i solved it with a new network (server cant be logged in in jj2net at the moment, i'll try to fix it next time)
new Hamachi networks are: jazz2net (pass is the same), jazz2net2, jazz2net3

@KiMO: It's "1.23" and "1.24", unless you're talking about some utopistic piece of rotten roadkill, that doesn't exist.
