Well i would like to know what is this file?
I know it has to do something whit the data in jj2 but what can you find in it?
And is there a way you could open this file other then use a hex editor?

Thanks cooba!
But can you view these pictures?
Is this file for the jj2 menus to work?

They use some raw format that you might be able to manipulate in a hex editor. Upon unpacking, you'll have to repack them again to apply the changes. A while ago I've worked on a program that does just that, I'll see if I still have it...

Menu.Texture.32x32
Menu.Texture.16x16
Huh. Any chance I could replace those with something else of the same size?

If you edited the file, then yes, of course.

I don't have any exact specifications... I poked around in it for an hour or two a while back, and it looked like a standard JJ2 file, a bunch of zlibbed blocks, except that for the most part their compressed and uncompressed length longs were themselves inside of a block which also contained their names. I could be wrong, though... I don't think I ever got around to extracting anything but that initial block. One way or other, it's all stuff you should be able to figure out by cross-applying the principles used by JJ2's other file formats.

Thanks UR but is there a way to uncompress the whole file?
And what program do you use to open the file(or any other)?
Is it a hex editor?
I'm working on a jj wiki on wikia thats why i need some info on the jj2 files.
Oh and a question about the .j2b format.
Would i be able to play it whit any other program other then jj2 whit-out converting it?

Yes i know that wiki but wouldn't a wiki on wikia.com be a good thing for the game?
I mean many games have a wiki on wikia.com why not JJ?
Oh and this is a little off-topic...(if by any chance you want to look at it idk how the rules are for linking to a public wiki but the link is in my profile.

I have a copy (http://downlink.lordprime.com/jazzjackrabbit/2/data_123.zip) of the uncompressed data.
If you want to poke around with it, feel free to do so.

Why another wiki when we've got one with a reasonable amount of content already? Your effort is better spent on expanding on what we have, instead of starting anew.
