In the not-inconsiderable lifetime of this conversion it's had more than one person try to finish it and fail. I'm kind of sick of waiting and I doubt I'll do much more with it myself, so here it is; hopefully the community is less lazy than I am.

Image
Original BMP with palette
Mask

Things to do:
- Fix the colors and make a proper JJ2 palette with red water, textured background, maybe some palette objects (pinball flippers and 500 bumpers would be nice)
- Clean up the reflective purple goo tiles and pipe tiles
- Get the last frame of that 7-frame red light animation at the bottom, if there is a last frame
- Make the layout suck less
- Add extra tiles

What's in it for you? You get a Technoir conversion, you get a Technoir conversion the way you want it, you get a Technoir conversion with your name in the mask messages, you get to have a hand in deciding which tileset to do next in Let's Make a Conversion (it doesn't even have to be a JJ1 tileset).

Well, I could give the masking, palette or layout a shot, but I suppose anybody could do that. I don't have JJ1 yet, so not much else.

OK, That's a MUCH MORE BETTER than Newspaz' conversion.... Nice job, keep working on it :D

Looks pretty good. New layout is needed yes. however, i think more care could have gone into adding more tiles for more usability.

I made a pallet for technoir a long time ago. You could use this as a base or downright use it as I believe I was able to get some pallet events working

Here's a picture of it. If you want I'll upload it

Why are people asking me to work on it more? I posted this here for other people to work on. If you want something in it, then add it. That's the whole point.

Hopefully my copy of Jazz 1 will arrive soon, and then I will be able to tell what should be masked. If SonicNathan has made a palette, then that's great. The other one is a mess. =S

It's a mess because it's the original, unmodified 128-color JJ1 palette.

I've uploaded the pallet

Hope it helps

Based on the image of the palette, it looks like the textured background rows are a row too far down.

Yeah I just noticed that when I posted that link.

Lol easy enough to fix

Okay, I'm not too keen to do the layout, as I'd probably mess it up, but I'll gladly do the masking. If somebody else could finalise the basic layout I'll give the mask a shot. Also, how about other things like event scenery and signposts?

Actually, I found my test mask sitting around. I believe it's accurate and working, but it needs to be rearranged with the tileset, obviously. See first post.

Okay, bumping this. I finally downloaded the mask and palette, and I want to know if anybody else wants to try and modify the layout or if I should try? Also, I'm having a bit of trouble with palettes, because minmay's main tileset uses the second level's palette, while sonicnathan's re-organized one is for the first level. I'm mostly just trying to figure out what tiles are needed or unneeded. After that I can stick in some destruct scenery or a textured background or something.
