While I appreciate Blade's later efforts, I'm truly sick of seeing these particular lvls still getting hosted these days. They haven't aged well at all. So why?

I think it's due to the fact that it hasn't really been well specified which Battle levels are ideal to play in, due to the lack of popularity like that found with many CTF levels.

Yeah, I too am seriously sick of playing those same Battle levels over and over. If I see that Aztec one again, I'm gonna go INSANE!
Don't get me wrong, they are GOOD levels but it can get boring playing the same one about 100 times.

It probably has something to do with the fact that if you browse battle levels on j2o, blade's battle pack is the highest rated.

Hack the ratings down to 4.5}>

I don't really like that aztec one...blame whoever hosts the server (I'm not 100% certain of the name who hosts it, if I get the name wrong it'd be embarrasing) for overhosting those blade levels. He's not so active, so he practically never changes the levellist.

it's Sfaizst who hosts The Server and yeah, he is inactive :P

Ok, so I played them a bit and I can say that they are simply crappy levels and I wouldn't rate them higher than 5.

Actually, I'm not generally so fond of blades battle level making style in general. There's only one or two I actually like, I just gave that annoying deadend clustered, broken (yeah, it has a bug of getting possibly stuck and no way to get out unless you kill yourself) aztec one as an example of how well I hate that level. The problem I have with them is that they generally lack a flow.

Bare in mind that designs such as this used to be very common, and considered the standard back in the early days of JJ2, when these levels were created (around 1998-2002). It's not that the levels are necessarily bad, just they are quite dated.

Heh, funny! All JJ2 game hosts, stop hosting Blade's Battle Pack! Especially Aztec :D

Sfaizst is not inactive, he can always be contacted on MSN. And these levels were originally supposed to be just example levels for his tilesets.

Look at the description, he's saying stuff about tileset updates. I don't think he meant to make quality battle levels out of these.

I'm possible a bit inactive, but not all the time :D
I have to work quite a lot in last time for the company where i work..., but i said it over and over agian the last years..., create a better level pack, send it to me and i will host it.
In the last years I saw a lot lists,... but there was nearly the same levels in, so send me something NEW if you want a change in the levellist of The Server.
When the new AB start i will host this finished list for sure, for some weeks / days / (how long the community want), so blades levels would disappear these days.

Other JCS'ers made a much better use with these tilesets. I'm sorry Blade, but these levels genuinely were awful, haha.

Maybe Blade is not a good battle levelmaker but his tilesets are awesome. :)
