Well, seeing as JJ1 is already available on XBox and PSP, against those same copyright laws, I wouldn't see a problem with it on the iPhone. Don't they already have DOSBox for iPhone?

To clarify, that video in no way proves that there are no technical issues, since it shows an unfinished reprogramming of JJ1, with entirely different code, rather than the original game.

Just jailbreak it. It's easy and free. Why are people so anal about being official with the iPods and iPhones?

Any kid with an MP3 player is probably illegal. Or the music on the iPod for that matter. Don't hand me that legal crap. Fine. Go ask Apple to digitally sign Jazz Jackrabbit. See how far you get.

ORRR why not actually go somewhere with this and make it work???

Who wouldn't love to have JJ1 on iPhone?

I'm determined to make this happen. I know there are no technical issues (as I've seen this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0knvOkBJ0s0)youtube clip that shows it running on the aforementioned platform) so I guess the issues are as follows:

Epic own the rights
That whole self executing code thing in Apples Eula

It must be possible to overcome these issues. Any thoughts?

I don't think epic have released jj1 on any other platform officially, I don't think the green rabbit holds there interests any more. It's a pity they weren't more like sega who have released the classic sonic games on nearly every console.

So I doubt JJ1 would ever make it to the iphone sadly.

For what it's worth, DOSBox now exists in the App Store and JJ1 runs ....moderately well on a high end iPhone. However, something like a port of OpenJazz would probably be smarter for this platform.

I'm not 100% sure but I recall Epic releasing Jazz1 for the mac. But you're right, they're not really interested in their older franchises. (Except for unreal obviously.)

Wikipedia says they did, but I've never seen anything else about it. :(

I think I read it in one of the Epic newsletters on Haze's site too.

Indeed.
I'd help, but if and elseif in python is the furthest I can reach:)

I was in contact with the guy who made the video, but lost touch after I moved house and spent several weeks without an internet connection. I've just mailed him again, so hopefully there will be news.

Sad thing the newer PSP updates broke the support for custom apps, to "prevent piracy" SONY said... Man it sucks. Well then you can use custom firmwares (+ lose the chance to get new features through PSN update and possibly breaking your PSP through firmware corruption or processor meltdown (some... um, most custom firms overclock the processor. Not much, but the risk exists.))

Using atm PSP 3004 PB with Gen-B for ChickHen. Works great, though my PSP is slightly slower now as my cat peed on it. :(
