JCS Awards 2010 [Nominations thread]

The year is drawing to a close, and thus it's time for JCS Awards once again. With R3ptile in the military, EvilMike having fallen off the Earth, and SuperJazz telling me to do it, I decided to handle the things this year.

This year will be done similarly to how things were ran last year. There will be three stages - nominations, then a voting thread, and finally, the results. This will be the thread for this year's nominations. What gets nominated here will be put in the voting thread.



Rules
You may nominate as many things as you want, including your own stuff! If something is mentioned only once here, and it is fairly good, it will probably be in the voting thread. There's nothing wrong with nominating a level more than once, either.

The nominations have to be something from 2010. This means anything that was uploaded to J2O in 2010 - including older levels that weren't uploaded until 2010, but no reuploads, or remakes (unless they're very notable ones). However, this does not include levels that have won awards in the past (e.g. Helldome). Levels that weren't uploaded to J2O this year can be included, as long as they were indeed made this year.

Two recommendations: if you could post a download link to whatever you are nominating, it would save me a lot of time later on, when I get to make the voting thread. Second, if you want your nominations to be a secret for some reason, you can private message me with them.

I didn't make a lot in JCS this year.. didn't even finish Impressions A yet. Light Point was my only uploaded level and basically that's everything I've done in JCS this year. Thanks to SJ for nominating it though. :-)

Thanks for posting this cooba. I was actually planning on doing it myself again this year but less work for me is always a good thing. Also in the future if you want to contact me just PM me on the JCF or J2O, I always respond even if I don't seem like I'm around.

Oh yeah, and this year's awards should be pretty interesting. More than last year at least. Some categories this year are a bit lacking (eg best MP pack) but most have quite a few decent entries. Especially my favourite category, single player, which has a ton of entries. Compare this to 2009 when there was barely anything in SP... I managed to win that one but it was basically by default.

I think SC2 probably counts, because even though the levels are old, the pack itself is new. E. Prime isn't eligible though, according to the rules in the first post, because it's just a new version of a level that has already been uploaded to J2O (albeit in an AB pack).

I don't think this makes them uneligible though, because bash packs are different than normal J2O uploads - they're mainly for the players' convenience, not for ratings and critique for the author.

Best CTF: As much as I'd like to vote for Shadow I have to say that Evilmike's island level with islands just roxx. Maybe we could play it in our 4v4's or 5v5's more instead of silwi? It's a level that won't be appreciated for some time, but when it will catch on, the community will play in it a lot. It's good to see a big CTF level which isn't just for the usual 2v2/3v3 format.

Best Battle: I love FS's work a lot, and I really enjoyed playing in his suburbs (me being an Urbs, you can see how I would fill well in that level). But what can I say I've always been a dreamer myself, so my point goes to snooze and his Dream Stage. Good to see the best levelmakers making some battle levels. CTF has become so dominant, although that has not always been the case in the community history. Battle was, at least in the beggining, king, and most duels weren't CTF duels.

Best tileset: I am tempted to say traditional japan, but Glowee is just so radical as well, can I get back to you on this one?

Best MP pack: SC2, mainly because of the awesome abbreviation:)

Best JCSer - Well looks like evilmikey logged some serious hours this year, so he gets my vote!
