As you should be aware of, the J2O host seems to be a bit... slow. Thus, I alongside with the rest of the users in the J2O network request that the host would be changed to another with a better price-quality ratio.

The users that support this idea:

Well, I support this to an extent. It might be an easier-said-than-done thing, but this host does seem to be unreliable, especially with some of the downtime the site's been getting. I seem to recall an admin mentioned that they were looking into it, though.

We're way ahead of you.

We'll, you could make a newspost or something if you really are doing something to the host? :P

I appreciate the sentiment, but changing hosts requires time and quick communication, two things not common in a team full of busy people from different timezones.

We're making plans, but I can't really make promises.

Signed. 100%. Have you guys heard of GoDaddy.com? They're decent hosting providers. Or Network Solutions.

Hmm, GoDaddy has an hosting pack which would give unlimited disk space and probably a little faster connection than this host is using for 7$ / month. (36 months)

We've already identified some alternatives for the current host. As said, the problem lies elsewhere :)

Speed seems to be fine right now, though admittedly not as a result of us doing anything. How is it for you?

This is the first day that I've actually seen it run smoothly. The J2O server (and JCF) like to take their sweet old time loading and sometimes I even have to hit refresh as I get a CTO. idk about anyone else though.

The server staggers during European daylight hours.

I'm in a slightly different time zone than the majority of the members here, so it works for me in the morning. In the evening, though, it starts getting really slow. That may be my internet, however.

It is not. It staggers after the midday, atleast on my timezone.

That's pretty useful information actually, I was assuming it was just slow all day. Could you all post some more specific info, like what time it approximately starts being slow and what timezone you're in? Maybe we can actually get our current host to fix it, somehow.

maybe about 10.00 GMT+0... or around that, atleast. Right now it isn't that bad, so maybe it's laggy for about 5 hours?

I'm thinking now that it may be my internet. It would usually slow down right about now, but it's going quite smoothly for me. I'm afraid I'm not being too helpful.

The site's been really slow for me 24/7 for quite a while now.

The JCF's often been slow in the afternoon/early evening during the week (6pm-9pm GMT+1), but right now (11pm GMT+1 Saturday) everything seems to be running fine.

Oh, and one more thing. Downloads have a proper speed, so maybe the fault is only at the http/php side.

It took me 10 minutes just to get to this page and post this message.

Well it's struggling for me again. Other sites seem to be alright, so who knows.

Normally it's very slow at this time (6:15pm GMT+1), but the site seems to be running nicely at the moment.

Stijn, a couple of thoughts: check to see if there's any heavy cron jobs running, and check the logs to see if there's any unusual spikes in load.

Good idea, meanwhile I'll try to make a GUI interface using visual basic to track the bad connection's IP address (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkDD03yeLnU).

It works fine for me. A question, though, will any of the forum posts from 2 days ago be moved over, or will everything need to be reposted?

Get better internet.

My internet is fine. This is the only site that gives me any trouble.

Either you're exaggerating or it's a problem on your end. J2O may have been slow, but 7 minutes is just ridiculous, especially given the fact that we've now changed hosts.

I've been getting a database error. All I see is:

I assume this has something to do with the hosts being changed?
