View Full Version : The General 'You Guys Are Awesome' Thread

So I got to thinking about how this community is among one of the most close-knit on the internet. Think about this: we don't have any qualms with showing our pictures to complete strangers over the internet because for some demented reason we trust this spotty teenager from Romania who swears a lot. Why do I like this community so much? Why do I trust this community so much?

I don't know. You guys are just awesome. Really. For one thing I feel a lot of the time like I'm actually holding an intelligent conversation (despite the fact that this never happens). I feel more at home with a bunch of people who I've never met and possibly never will. I think a lot of us actually take each other even semi-seriously. What is it about this 14 year old game that connects us all? Whatever it is, I thank it.

You Guys Are Awesome. That's really all there is to say about this.

To the long health of the JJ2 community.

I agree entirely. This community is unique, friendly, and even if some of you guys have moved on from JJ2 there are still people joining, funnily enough.

INTERNET

don't know about the others but I have like zero privacy and never get any second thought on posting my name or face anywhere on the web

This is nice and all and makes me smile quite a bit, but on the other hand I do hope you shall (or already do) feel at home and find people for an intelligent conversation in the 'real life' as well.

As for a few words from myself, I think I already said this before, though I have no idea when (I've been here for so many years nobody may remember anymore), this IS my favorite community, and I have a lot to owe it. Through this community and this game, I met two of my best friends, started drawing, making music, I bought a bass guitar, and it had its share in me meeting my girlfriend. I have many memories, I learned a lot of things, and even though it's become a lot less lively or crowded over the years, it still has this cozy feel.

I really want to repay how much it has given to me in my life, and eventually I will. So far it's all that try as I might, I always get slowed down or distracted by things, but sooner or later I wish to be someone who, one could say, helps this community keep going. Or maybe even growing. Sure, nowadays this probably sounds like nonsense, what with the aforementioned 8 posts per day, but I think there's still ways to keep this place in one piece for years to come.

I'm so much more happy with my Life b/c of Jazz Jackrabbit.

Fans of the Game have Been w/ me for a Long Time.

The Thriller Reminds me that I still am the Same One person I was in 1994.

It looks to me that JJ2's fun and possibilities have never been surpassed by any other game in it's genre, and chances that it will in current times are tiny.

And for that reason, I will keep on playing JJ2 every now and then in my life, for as long as I keep enjoying games in general.

It's really not that strange if you think about it, many classic games have their cult following, keeping relatively small groups of people together for the same reason for what looks like forever. Why not JJ2. ;)

Yeah, why not?

The way I saw it, my picture's already up on Facebook, so people can see me on the internet anyway. Heck with it.

But yeah, back to the discussion. I think that Jazz2's community has thrived for so long because of the respect we have for each other. True, it may have started out as forced, because the site rules wouldn't let us bash each other, but now it's become the 'societal' norm on J2O to be helpful, be friendly and even to be close to each other.

Think about it. How many f-bombs or b-s'es do you see on a regular basis on J2O? How many users rip into each other and call each other stupid idiots and hopeless lunatics? Not many.

That's what's held my fancy ever since I joined J2O about five or six years ago. I don't feel like I'm all alone, that I'm the only nice guy in the community. There's other decent folks around, and I don't have to look far to find them.

Kudos to the original site founders who put in place those rigid rules that have kept this familial community alive and healthy for all these years!

I've never had a life-changing JJ2 experience as of yet. Patiently waiting.

Or alternatively we are talking about the JCF and J2O community as opposed to the JJNet community.

I didn't know JJ2 has 2 communities. People are different, indeed, but this game is kinda small for something like that. Sorry for jj.net post then.

Good words. While I've never been a part of this community, I hope I will for a good amount of time. To be honest I almost thought that this was an incredibly serious community, but thankfully I was wrong! =)

Where've you been, Crimi?

Seriously though. Heyya to all the new members that joined J2O/the JCF just because of reading this thread. You guys made the right call. I look forward to hanging with y'all for quite a spell.

Here's a link to the "Introductions" thread, if you're interested.
