It seems that the JJ2 listservers are offline. This time, both list1 and list2 are offline, so no one can play online!

I host a listserver too, you can see current servers online here:
http://djazz.mine.nu/apps/sgip/?listserver=djazz.mine.nu

In order to use my listserver you must edit the registry a bit with these files.

Use "djazz.mine.nu" as primary listserver:
http://djazz.mine.nu/files/djazz_listserver.reg

Reset the listserver settings (once Digiex is back online):
http://djazz.mine.nu/files/default_listserver.reg

I'll contact nimrod (host of listservers) when he is available to get the regular listservers online.

Please note: When using other listservers than the default, you must sometimes restart JJ2 to make it connect again. The default listserver is hardcoded into JJ2 (and list2.digiex.net in JJ2+, for some reason?). Imo, registry should override the default lists as it takes much longer to relist/start server now.

Status page for my listserver:
http://djazz.mine.nu:10055/

Once the other servers come back online, my listserver will mirror them, for a smooth transition.
I coded the listserver myself, code is here: http://djazz.mine.nu/files/djazz_listserver-1.02.zip

See the JJ2 servers hosted on digiex's list1 and list2:
http://djazz.mine.nu/apps/sgip/?listserver=list.digiex.net
http://djazz.mine.nu/apps/sgip/?listserver=list2.digiex.net

I was just about to ask here whether the list server is down for everyone.
Thanks DJazz for providing this quick workaround. I had to replace HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE with HKEY_CURRENT_USER to get it working. Now the game lists just one server called "Testing listserver". Is that how it's supposed to be?

EDIT: It seems to work. I can start a new game and it's shown in the server list.

Ah, I have really no clear idea how JJ2 reads the registry for List Servers. Yes I was just testing if the listserver is working. It was pinging because I'm at school with no port forwarding ;)

Alright. list2.digiex.net seems online. This allows JJ2+ players to play online but not nonplussers as nonplussers use list.jazzjackrabbit.com which points to list.digiex.net.
Status links:
http://list.digiex.net:10055/ (offline)
http://list2.digiex.net:10055/

Note: My listserver is only allowed to mirror list.digiex.net. In order to play on list2, run the "default_listserver.reg" file to reset the settings.

Edit: list2 is back online

list2 is hosted by EvilD, not Nimrod, I think

I was wrong. When I first applied your .reg file and started Jazz 2 it showed the "Retrieving server lists" message. I thought it couldn't connect to the list server which would have meant that the .reg file didn't change anything. But, as I just realized, the message is also shown when there are no servers on the list, so the change was applied properly. It works with your file.

So what is the current state of the list servers?
Is there a recent patch we could / need to apply?

My installation doesn't seem to regenerate the default list for some reason.

list1 is down, it's the one that nonplussers connects to (list.jazzjackrabbit.com). list2 is up, so if you have JJ2+ that's where you get the list.

Ah thanks, do you know if that was done on purpose or the list just happens to be down?
It'd be a shame to have vanilla JJ2 not do multiplayer at all if the possibility is there.

It looks like list1 is still down, and the Bash is starting today. Even though the Plus required server isn't dependent on list1, it would be a bit odd if nonplussers can't even see the server listed from the game at all.

Is Nimrod still in charge of the listservers? Whoever it is, if you have the time, please do a little check-up on list1! :D

and it's back up!

Also installed Firedaemon so it will run it as a Service on bootup so Windows Update won't kick it offline until someone tells me again :)
