<a href="https://www.unrealengine.com/">Anybody can use Unreal Engine for $20 per month</a>

This is revolutionary news.

And apparently Cryengine is going to be $10 a month with no royalties (http://www.cryengine.com/news/crytek-announces-its-cryengine-as-a-service-program). Slightly confusing/surprising between the two, but certainly welcome.

Next to all expansive software products are slowly becoming available through subscription based services. Looks like Epic can't stay behind! 8D

I do believe it's good news for starting developers. In a short time period, paying $20 a month for your dev tools is less risky than paying $500+ once without knowing if your product will actually see the light of day. And it also keeps the big devs less worried on the competitors, as all licensees always have the latest updates to the engine without additional payments. And sharing 5% of your revenue towards Epic seems reasonable compared to Apple's 30% through the App Store..
