Hello people,

Interview time! This time with EvilMike, J2O Admin, JCF community member and level designer of "Ori and the blind forest". So dump all your questions here below. I will select a few and make an interview out of it!

Thank you in advance :)

People know you for your awesome levels. In fact, devres inspired me to create a single player episode series. Is there any advice you can give to us JCS rookies?

What is your favorite level in any game ever? If you cant name just one, you can name multiple!

Any parts of devres that would have been particularly different had AngelScript been available back when you made it?

You have been involved with the JJ2 community for over a decade, on and off. What do you consider your biggest success? Is there anything you consider a failure?

Despite saying that you moved on from Jazz back in 2012, have you felt tempted to create something with AngelScript since then?

If Epic approached you about helming a next Jazz Jackrabbit, would you accept?

Primpy

Except Jazz Jackrabbit (2), what games' level design did you use for inspiration in creating Ori and the blind forest's levels?

Are you satisfied of your work? How much do you rate the levels you made?

Can you give us a free copy of the game? :D

Amazing questions rolling in already! Good job people, keep it up!

Fan-made levels for various games can get away with being more difficult or otherwise complicated than the official ones, because they can assume the players have had more experience with the engine, and Devres is no exception to this. What internal adjustments did you have to make in order to develop level design for Ori, which would be presenting its gameplay for the first time?

What's next for Moon Studios and why is it using your buzz and proven engine to license Jazz from Epic Games?

How do you type with boxing gloves on?

I remember you said you were going to remake Devres a couple of years ago. Is that going to happen, or is the idea scrapped?

If you could change Lori, what changes would they be?

What are your thoughts on the JJ2 community still going?

What advice would you give to people aspiring to become professional game designers such as yourself?

I have a few. :D

1. What's the key to perfect level design?

2. What's the secret to Ori and the Blind Forest's level design? In detail, what key things were you and your team aiming towards and what processes did you embark on to achieve them?

3. What's your favorite example of level design in any game and why? Also, on the flipside, what's your least favorite example, and why?

Thanks.

What music do you listen to while making levels/games?

What are some of the different stages of seeing the game's levels come together? I would assume there's a lot of placeholder graphics and such, so how does it feel to see a level go from the early stages to the finished product?

Primpy

What do you do in your free time?

What games do you enjoy playing?

Jelly Jam

Am I the only one who thinks that it's more interesting if Evilmike used his JCF account to answer the questions on the thread itself?
ofc, just my opinion. So feel free to disagree :>

How did you come to work on Ori and the Blind Forest? Have you done any professional game work before Ori? And do you have any future game projects you'll be working on?

Thumbs up for making a living on making video games, dude!

While working on Devres, did you think or consider making game design your job? Or did Et push you across the line without further thought?

Primpy

Do you think some of the levels are way too hard? Which?

A guardian spirit.

I think IconGuy meant what species is (resembling) Ori.
Dunno, a monkey rabbit or something?

Then we're talking about another rabbit game? :)

Well, maybe, but I don't think it is totally based on a rabbit.
As I said, maybe a fusion between a monkey and a rabbit? He jumps pretty high and can climb walls after all.

I also think it is based on Stich a little bit.
