Sorry, I'm not taking anymore maps from bash17, and I'd rather avoid already used maps if I can. However, I may use some classics if I lack maps near the deadline.

Please use at least some classics. They're a point of recognition for any returning oldtimers and many will enjoy playing them again.

As far as I know the Bash was never a "best levels of the previous year" kind of event. Of course that could very well change now, it's not set in stone. But I think the event works well as a celebration of [n] years of Jazz Jackrabbit and it loses something if it's just recent levels.

Edit: my suggestions shouldn't be taken as a hint that the whole pack needs to consist of classics - new stuff is great. But the levels I mentioned are classics that I think would work well for a Bash-style event.

I agree with Stijn. Nostalgia is a big part of what has kept this community together over all of these years, so there's no reason not to value that. Of course this doesn't mean the level choices need to be cliché, but it's always nice to consider a few older level so returning players don't necessarily have to feel alienated.

Should the AB naming conventions be kept (i.e ab18ctf1 for example instead of the original filename)? They're not really needed anymore with the advent of levellists, since years ago, but it seems to be a tradition.

Stijn

Depends on whether you're gonna edit the levels for the event. If you edit them you might as well change the level name, if not keep the original.

Treylina
Feb 8, 2016, 03:00 PM
OK I just realised why not renaming would be an inconvenient (bad) thing in the long-term:

Those who would want to cycle through the levels all at once (on their own, locally) would either have to make a levellist or have to type in the specified levelname each time.
Or, if the next level set only gets changed, it may screw up the order of levels that were in a levelpack, making it inconvenient for those who want to cycle through a pack that's not the bash.

So...nevermind then.

It's been a while. As a reminder for levelmakers, you roughly got a month and a week left. It may seem like a lot of time at first, but time can fly by fast!

I forgot the release date of JJ2 (it's April the 13th), so I'll make the deadline more lenient soon.

I'm alive again on the forums.
Expect me to finish some levels aswell, I got some spare time.
Oh, and Trey, I am still interested.

Here's a Battle level I submitted for the Bash: http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/7625/the-candion-wars/

I know it's not that good, but whatever, at least it's something different and it should be good to have more new stuff made specifically for the bash. Max ammo is set to 30 in the script now, but feel free to upper or lower it.

Tell me if there are any game-breaking bugs and I'll fix them, but I won't revamp the level's layout.

Also, because the Blaster is disabled, I forced /weaponchance on for this level because I suck at scripting for now. If someone has a way to default Ice as the only gun somehow, feel free to suggest it. :7

lol that appears so simple. Thank you very much! I updated the zip file with this script instead of the forced weapon change flag. (y)

Just a reminder..

The deadline is coming in a week and a half - April the 12th. If you have a level in the works, you may want to get off your ass (including mine).

Also I promise to work back on the CTF levellist soon.

PurpleJazz

I should have a new CTF level finished within the next few days.

EDIT: Here it is (http://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/7631/scrapyard/)

I have a new level in the works too, trying to get it in the downloads section before 12th.

EDIT: I also suggest Antiquity for the CTF list.

EDIT: I dont understand Dream Stage. Cauldron should be used instead. Or just let me finish something new.

I would prefer that Conflux was used instead of 4th Reich. Unless I can finish something new before the deadline.

I still have a level that I have been working on for a while, but I haven't worked on it yet this year. But I am going to try to finish it in time.

And yes, it's Zes and it's almost time to upload it.

The deadline has been extended by one more day. Maybe I'll be able to finish all my level visuals in time..

I've browsed through all but one of the Battle levels so far, but the last one (ab18btl20) doesn't work. The game crashes with the message that "Townhouse2 Night Lite.j2t" hasn't been found.

Okay, to fix the level pack and get organised, I am delaying the bash by one hour.

Treylina
Apr 15, 2016, 05:21 PM
The bash has been going smoothly for the most part, but unfortunately ab18ctf20 (Hells core) had to be removed due to a massive bug. Players would eventually become unhittable and carrots became uncollectable. The level is not scripted, so we are not sure what is triggering this.

Because it is such a late state, I am only removing the map and not replacing it. Sorry.

Also the server went down somewhere during midnight yesterday, but being at such an inactive time, I don't think anyone noticed. Or at least I hope so.

I think it was delisted from list2, as there was a small discussion about it here (http://www.jazz2online.com/news/1575/anniversary-bash-18/).

It was fun, guys. I think this was the first bash I've attended in maybe 7 years. Amazing use of scripting in Sal's server :). Was that Sal's server? My memory can be hit or miss sometimes.

I am in the same boat as Hare. Haven't been on since 2010 I think. I made an effort to play on each day, and every session reminded me why I loved this game and it's community.

Hare: Yep, that was Sal's server. Good times!

It was a rather succesfull Bash. I saw enough irregular players return and each day had times where the server filled up to about 18 or more players. Best of all, it was great fun and a nice mix of different gamemode variations during the last 2 days.
