Please sign the petition and share it among your friends: https://www.change.org/p/epic-games-release-jazz-jackrabbit-and-jazz-jackrabbit-2-tsf-on-the-gog-com?recruiter=24775706&utm_source=share_for_starters&utm_medium=copyLink

Probably won't change much, but it doesn't hurt to try.

GOG has its <a href="https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/jazz_jackrabbit_1">own</a> wishlist <a href="https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/jazz_jackrabbit_2_1">feature</a>, actually.

I know. And JJ is already there. That doesn't mean it is on GOG. Maybe that petition when change.org will notice Epic will change something. Please sign it.

As I've said, probably won't make much of an impact, but doesn't hurt to try (and signing it is like, 5 minutes? Probably less).

but anyway, all of jj2 versions are free on the internet, so not a big deal

Well, uh, yes, in the same sense as all versions of any game are free on the Internet.

I think vBrute means that JJ2 is really easy to find on the internet, even a 5 year old can find it just by looking for "Jazz Jackrabbit 2 free download no virus" or something like that. Meanwhile, there are games you can only download as torrents, have to mount them, crack them, find keygens and all that jazz (pun intended). You get what I mean, they're more difficult to acquire than Jazz.

True, but a big advantage of it being available on GOG.com, et cetera, is that it gives some extra exposure to the game as well, perhaps introducing the game to new players.

Also, there are a quite an amount of people who refuse to pirate JJ2.

Also, if it's on GOG, you don't have to go through the annoyance of owning the Avalon version of TSF, and thus not being able to get Plus.

like sonic 3 remastered it needs 20,000 signatures not just only 100 signatures maybe then something will happen maybe i'm trolling and i'm gonna be banned again, but jazz jackrabbit vc support won't be like miracle with nintendo's global earthbound re-release outside japan.

right, and the game is unable to buy officially for a long time, it is old with no support and is so much enhanced with the plus patch, that the original game is a really lowcost, and the idea of giving money a third company just to re-release it, even if it is working all right an nearly all systems with the patch, sounds for me really crazy...
would rather find the development team and buy them not only one beer ;-)

Think about it this way: Now Epic doesn't make ANY money off JJ franchise (since Epic Classics is gone at all). If they release it on GOG or Steam, they'll make some money back. Even after GOG cut. Some money is always better than no money and (at least in case of the first JJ, porting second one may be more involved), all they have to do is to grab binaries off some abandonware site, pack it up with preconfigured DOSBox and upload to GOG's server? Costs? Almost none, less than an hour worth of work which even some Epic's intern can do. And there will be gain.

Also it's not like Epic doesn't release their old titles on GOG, for example original Unreal is there.

I recall Epic once said something like "But we lost the source code to the original games". Maybe someone can convince them that a digital re-release of the original JJ2 is fine as-is. All it may need is the DirectDraw wrapper to make fullscreen work properly on Windows8/10 with NVIDIA or ATI drivers. And including third party software to make games work is allowed by GoG.com for all I know, as the vast majority of games include DOSBox and old 3D games designed for Voodoo/Glide drivers (such as Rayman2) come with nGlide to make them work on newer systems.

It could be the case that while Epic was the developer of the game, the distribution rights (which would be needed to publish the game to GoG) were in the hands of Gathering of Developers and Project2, both of which are bankrupt now. Maybe the distribution rights are unclear or in the hands of some dormant company, preventing distribution of the game via platforms like GOG.

well in this case as I know in poland CD projekt maybe wasn't distributor for jazz jackrabbit 1 and l.k avalon of poland wasn't distributor for jazz jackrabbit 2 the secret files, but cd projekt found gog.com a.k.a digital video game service platform like steam

Instead of bothering with re releasing old games, they should focus on making JJ1&3 HD. Now that's something.

Not gonna happen.

Making a new game (even a remake) takes more effort than re-releasing it.

Indeed. Re-releasing it literally just requires them to say "Yes, we approve. We want this percentage of the sales money." The difficulty is in them having the rights to do so.

Meanwhile, for a remake they have to actually spend money and time on something that could -- from a business standpoint -- be a total failure. Besides, there's no way they'd get all the engine quirks right for custom levels.

I found revival of this petition if you want to leave comments and give hearts icon at one more time https://www.change.org/p/epic-games-release-jazz-jackrabbit-and-jazz-jackrabbit-2-tsf-on-the-gog-com/u/21629290 , but it could be pointless let's at try for a last time.
The proper thing to do would be releasing JJ2 with Steam Workshop support for Jazz Creation Station and some engine tweaks so it could eat more common and modern image and music formats. But that would require actual effort and money. Which means it will never happen.

Well EarthBound fans got digital re-release on Wii U thanks to Nintendo they had begging requests to Nintendo of America chairman/president Reggie Fils-Aime speaking of this jrpg abandonware video game genre.I hope in future when we will wait next 23 years maybe Epic Games will reboot Jazz Jackrabbit 1 & 2(just like Paul Feig's Ghostbusters-third film installment was cancelled by Ivan Reitman original film director)eighter just like Sega with Sonic 4 and Acolade like Bubsy the Woolies Strikes Back, right?I hope someday Epic will revive Jazz Jackrabbit and perhaps they make sequels or remakes of their classics kind of like film director Denis Villeneuve made Ridley Scott's Blade Runner 2019 from (1982)sequel Blade Runner 2049 from (2017),Alien Covenant(2017).I wish Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney on glassdoor(it's innovative job application replacing CV) might hire all of us just like Sega did with Sonic Mania game developers(Taxman,Hyper Potion-music studio,Tee Lopes,Stealth),but I'm afraid it might never gonna happen because for Epic fangames aren't very appealing to them just like all companies like Nintendo lawsuits or just strike downs.Btw Sony and Insomniac Games in 2016 rebooted Ratchet and Clank for PS4 I can't wait Sly Cooper 5 because Sly Cooper 4 ended up with cliffhangers like in Pixar's Brad Bird's Incredibles,Epic's Jazz Jackrabbit 2(unfinished intro was more like non-cliffhanger)than final cutscene(Devan Shell will stay in Hell Damnation forever). We need Epic Games Classics on GOG.com and PC Steam like Zoo of Zero Tolerance,Jill of The Jungle 1,2,3(trilogy),Jazz Jackrabbit 1,2(dualogy),One Must Fall 2077(1993),Xargon,Epic Pinball,Dare2Dream and Palace of Deceit Dragon's Plight.

IMO Jazz is way better than Bubsy. He deserves a rerelease at least.

Were Jazz Jackrabbit 1&2(cancelled third installment too),Spaz, Lori,Queen Earlong, Devan Shell and enemies...etc. had some voice actors or just random voices?

Jelly Jam
Nov 8, 2017, 01:21 AM
They sound like random voices. Although looking at Lori...

That reminds me, Shadow found this a while ago and posted it in a Facebook chat. Either Spaz's karate kick predates JJ2 or the sound came from a generic SFX CD or something.

It's heard around the 22s mark: https://youtu.be/FEMbbu5BNAQ?t=20s
