Was meant to make this last week, but here it comes a little later!

Update: I will be organising the Battle levellist, while PurpleJazz will be organising the CTF one.

We are open to suggestions too - classic, forgotten or new. Here's a list of questions I think will commonly pop up, so I will answer them:

Newbie questions;

What is the Anniversary Bash?
The Anniversary Bash is an annual public server event that celebrates JJ2s release date, every Early-mid April - lasting 4 days. A compliation of Battle and CTF levels (old and new) are hosted.
All sorts of players come together casually to ask whats up and perhaps reminisce the past. You can play seriously if you want, but don't expect to be challenged much.
How do I join?
You need the JJ2+ patch to join to make the serverlist and some other features work. It works on 1.23 and the original TSF. This upload description explains it better. (https://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/7657/serverlist-fix-lk-avalon-only/)

Bash related questions;

Will there be other gamemodes and mutators?
Sure! We usually do that on the 3rd and 4th day to spice things up. Keep in mind that the custom gamemodes must be compatible with the original CTF or Battle.
When's the full maplist?
When I feel there's enough levels to put together. Keep in mind, it's common a few levels get finished last-minute for the bash, so I tend to wait on the last few slots.
Is there an author level limit?
Yes, but it's as relaxed as before. Max 3 levels per gamemode per author.

Treylated (off-topic) questions

1. What about the CaB winner result? 2. What about the battle contest results? 3. Will there be another contest?
1. No, I haven't forgotten. I just keep putting it off. 2. Same thing, but I will do a quick review on each of the entries very soon (within a post). I'll find judges to determine winners more easily. 3. Not at least until the winning CaB entry is in action.

An exact bash date and server host is to be announced later.

You might want to be extra careful with testing the level packs, because levels nowadays rely more heavily on scripting etc.

Last bash, the level that bugged out wasn't scripted at all. It was an inherent plus bug. It has got fixed for the next patch. The other was some kind of masking error which was to do with the level itself. My bad.

Anyway, I build the maplist along the way rather than cram it until the last minute, so I think everything should go smoothly unless someone submits an undertested level at the final moment.

I'd like to announce that PurpleJazz will be working on this years CTF list. He has plenty of free time.

I haven't JJ2 in quite a while. Can't wait for this year's bash! As Jelly said, good luck with organizing! c:

Here's the level that I didn't complete in time for the Battle contest, released for the Bash instead: https://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/7697/wartorn-planet-x/. It's tested to the point that there are no known major bugs. It may be kind of generic but should provoke enough head-on battles.

Also, if you need hosting or perhaps a backup host, you may use the CDF server for it. I could upload the maps and make an allaccess password for bash admins to set it up. The server is in an NL datacenter, but actually has one of the fastest connections in todays world. It should have no problem at max JJ2 players with all map/music downloads on (or at least no restrictions due to server bandwidth).

So, since it's been ten years, should we bring back the things AB9 did? And a brand spanking new logo.

https://www.jazz2online.com/node.php?title=ab9+events

Since roast tag and team battle are just custom variations of battle (which tend to happen on the last bash day/s), I'd probably replace those. And would probably only do one gamemode per event. I'm thinking about Jailbreak and streetfight. Possibly even domination.

Due to lack of interest, I won't be bringing back alt gamemodes outside of the custom battle/CTF ones - however, I am finally announcing the bash dates!

The deadline for submitting maps is April the 12th

The Anniversary bash will last from April the 14th to the 17th of April. Friday to Monday.

We should really have FrogHunt mode (If you know what it is).

Treylina

No, because the levels are bad (with most not even being on j2o) and it requires a privately available program.

Due to popular request and quite a few unfinished levels unlikely to be done otherwise, the deadline has been extended to the 13th of April.

I'll be pinging it to all JJ2 casuals when the bash begins to remind everyone.

No CTF list is complete without Pinball Arena 2K15.. Besides that the list looks cool to me. :p

It was used in the last two bashes, so I think it's time that level took a bit of break. Thanks though! :)

That's fair enough. You may know I'm biased towards that level. Somehow I feel at home there even though I suck at it's gameplay, lol.

At what time is the Bash server expected to go up?

And I assume you got hosting covered? Same as for JDC, my rather inactive CDF Server is always available to be repurposed for events (or a backup host). Just send the levellist and maybe the settings .ini's and you'll get an allaccess (or any other admin groups if you wish).

The bash is expected to go up at April the 14th, 4/5PM GMT.

Also, I'll take you to account as a potential host.

In other news:
"Where's the battle list?" It's just about done. It'll be out tomorrow. (I'm a little hesitant about some maps staying in).

Well, the bash is over. Thanks to all of those who participated! What are your thoughts and favourite map/s? Here are some of my thoughts;

+ Got a reasonable amount of oldies to return. Not a large amount, but it felt like more than last year.
+ Good banter
- Hyperspace was pretty much unplayable because of the lag it caused on the Camel servers. Bleh
- The organisation was pretty haphazard. I'm not gonna pull the blame card on anyone in particular, it's my fault too.

I'm stepping down as an organiser next AB, though I'll probably still be throwing suggestions.

If you missed the bash though, stay tuned for Unniversary bash 3 this year during summer (somewhere in July/August)! I'll be running it a little differently by doing some curation. It'll be in a new thread.

This really is an annoying problem, and no one seems to be addressing it. Future levels could have the same problem.

It was fun :). The organization was actually quite good.
I can only think of two improvements:
- Ask a host maybe a day or 2 in advance, not 2h before the Bash is supposed to start
- Test the mappool before starting
That could've avoided a lot of problems.

The atmosphere was good either way and sorry for all the hosting problems.

I can host next year too if other servers will have problems or if you need a host.

This.

I offered multiple times to host and set up a server for the bash, but nobody responded. At the last moment when I was asked to host a server for the bash, I was busy with work and other stuff.

I managed to make some time to record some footage, which can be found here:
