It's time again for another loosely defined contest highlighting another one of JJ2's less common features! This time you are charged with creating a JJ2 playable experience somehow relating to pinball (https://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/search.php?search=pinball)! The most obvious way to do this, of course, is using one or more of the pinball events: the flippers, the 500 bumper, and the carrot bumper. But maybe you have other ideas? A "playable experience" is most probably a level, but it could be multiple levels, or a mutator, or a .j2as for an existing level, I don't know, whatever feels right to you.

Whatever you make, though, it must be a new release! And as ever you're free to double-submit, like if you make a pinbally Battle or CTF level before April 6th it might go in this year's Anniversary Bash (https://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showthread.php?t=20499), or if you make a pinbally assault level you may also submit it to the Assault the Base Contest. (https://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showthread.php?t=11871)

Our prize this time is a Steam key for Yoku's Island Express (https://store.steampowered.com/app/334940/Yokus_Island_Express/), a 2D platformery game where you spend most of your time as a pinball bouncing around colorful pinball tables with graphics reminiscent of the Ori series. Or we can negotiate, but that seems the most fitting.

Submissions close on April 18th, or else one week after the first submission, whichever of those two dates is later.

My entry: https://www.jazz2online.com/downloads/9489/pinball-duel-2k25/

May I propose to extend the deadline to whenever at least 1 other entry is submitted? I recall at least 1 other person was making something.. I forgot who.

The clock has started!

On October 8th, submissions will close, unless somebody else replies to this thread with a credible claim that they are making something for this contest that might be finished in a reasonably timely manner.

The winner: Pinball Duel 2k25 by Slaz!

Featuring a very satisfying number of pinball objects, flippers and bumpers both, as well as a wild new palette and some antigravity shenanigans.

Slaz, let me know if you already have Yoku's Island Express on some platform, otherwise I'll send you a steam key. I played it a couple years ago and had a fine time.

Oh, I don't own and never played that game. I'd be happy with a Steam key and will play it on my Steam Deck. :-)

Still, I hope this isn't the end for any other potential pinball themed levels. (y)
