It seems like there are a lot more people who have list server program now and are trying to run one. This may sound good, but it mostly makes things more complicated and confusing. In order to get one listserver to mirror another, both sides must add the other to their mirror server list. I haven't tested it out, but I believe listservers only forward the JJ2 servers that are directly connected to it. This means that if there is any inconsistancy between peer listserver lists, the there will be inconsistancies between the servers that are actually listed.

All we need in listservers are for them to be fully dedicated and have solid connections. Speed is barely an issue for listservers since the amount of data they transfer is minimal. All JJ2 servers need to worry about is that it can stay connected to a listserver.
Another note.. I believe that if a listserver goes down, any JJ2 servers that were connected to it get de-listed. The connection apparently doesn't transfer over to another server, so this is the reason for dedicated listservers.

I know there are some people who just want to try out stuff and fool around with their own listservers. That's ok, but please don't bug the real servers (like me) too much because of the problems/inconviences you can cause which are mentioned above.
