View Full Version : A jazz chat would be good

Why would it be good? People say it would destroy the community, and they say "Why not just use Jazz Jackrabbit 2 itself, stupid?!" Well... I tried. But it seems there are a few people, along with me, who have that stupid "server timed out" problem due to the person's firewall. Well, I CAN chat, but just for... say... 5-7 seconds! wow... messages boards are cool, but... not instant.

I have a nice java chat thing up! It'll most likely be there forever, so go ahead. Visit http://go.to/bobsite and on the main page, click on the talking balloon with the cannibal-head in it. Enjoy!

ooh, I should put my form here, but I don't feel like spending 1 second loading notepad!

You can actually play with ppl?!

What's the address of the server lists?

Chat's a great idea. I'll drop in sometime http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

you prolly need the latest server list patch. check out the popular jazz sites, like Jazz2Online and jazz 2 city probably has it... it may be shut down, meaning inacessible

Isn't that what the JCF is for? But it wouldn't be very popular, look at the few Jazz chat rooms on some Jazz sites: Hardly anyone is there.

Jazz2City is still up. Its kind of hard to get the server patch from there, though, you get a weird screen-full of stuff, and you have to do it sort of a round about way so it doesn't suspect.

But you can get it.

Ya, I think a chat would be nice, but a lotta pplz would probly not go to it. But it would be nice if pplz did, so if someone was having trouble connecting to the server lists, they could get help.

Sometimes pressing SHIFT while you click on the file works (or it will open up the gibberish in a new IE window). Downloading a prog such as Download Accelerator and then entering the address manually works, too.

We use to have a Jazz chat. Don't tell me you guys don't remember #jj2...or whatever =). That was a fun IRC chat. It suprises me that all of these php wizards can't create one for j2o themselves =P

Heh.. we can, easily. But communitech wouldn't really like a resource hog like that. Chats are resource hogs. I know that many hosts shut down accounts that have a chat program.

Fquist is planning on hosting an IRC network on his connection. http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

I'd offer to host that too, but my computer isn't quite reliable enough for IRC.
