Hey! Can someone please tell me what the list server address is (the one Jazz 2 asks for if the registry entries aren't up to date)?

If you can, I'll be very grateful - I'm desperate for a good fight!

Oh dear... Scratch that, I'm still getting "Error Connecting To List Servers". What now?

How should my registry entries for the List Servers read?

At the moment they say:

default [value not set]

000 "jazz.logicware.com"

001 "jazz.logicware.com"

I'm sure that the problem is in those - but what should they be?

Thanks in advance.

The standard is:

000 - "list.jazzjackrabbit.com"

001 - "jazz.logicware.com"

Jersey Devil

Right. Got it.

You see, I changed it to what I said, 'cos I was still getting the same error b4, and I'm desperate...

Any other ideas?

Do the following:

1 open a dos window

2 try to get the server list in jj2

3 immediately type in the dos window: netstat

do you see any ports that are/were opened ?

if no: I guess you have a firewall problem or something.

if yes: You should see the one or two remote addresses (those from the registry).

Jersey Devil
Apr 12, 2001, 11:33 AM
Yep, I saw ports. Now what?

If I type the address jazz.logicware.com manually, JJ2 tries to ping "user server at jazz.logicware.com", BUT, it's an eternal pinging...

BTW, how does Jazz 2 know which port it's meant to open? It said in the Netstat thing 10053, but I know it should be 10057. Anyone know a way I could change what port Jazz2.exe looks for?

Wimster
Apr 12, 2001, 12:40 PM
Yeah .... what now?

and you are right jj2 gets the list servers through remote port nr 10053 (works fine with me)

The launch program xjj2 uses port 10057.

Perhaps you can play on internet using xjj2 download:

http://squeeky.cytag.nl/~haze/files/xjj2v33.exe

Or you can use this website and go to 'games in progress' and from there you can launch jj2 by clicking in the second column on one of the 'public' games.

If that don't work you can rightclick on 'public' there and save it as a file, then view the file with notepad and there you have the IP address of a gameserver. Now type this IP adress in jj2 and if that doesn't work you are probably talking about another game.

uuh I mean then something else is messed up.

Aww man... Still havin' trouble... I tried it, Wimster, but all I get, click or right click, is a download box asking if I want to open the file from it's current location, or save it to disk. I tried telling JJ2 to open it, but it wouldn't listen... If I had ears like my in-game character, I would be tearing them off in frustration http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Any other suggestions?

Try to type in your browser

telnet://jazz.logicware.com:10057 (http://telnet://jazz.logicware.com:10057)

This should bring up a list with servers their IPS names and more.

Join them by doing: Start > Run > C:GamesJazz2Jazz2.exe -connect "the ip"

Note. C:GamesJazz2 could varey because of which directory you use. And if you type the Ip you shouldn't type the ".

-New

-sigh- Nope. It just tells me that there was an error connecting to jazz.logicware.com port 10057.

Man... Mebbe this just wasn't meant to be...

I won't give up.

Ooh - looky. This is the 100th post in Tech Help!

What if you get the ip from the server and enter it in jj2 manually?

Aiko
Apr 13, 2001, 01:20 AM
Jersey Devil, save that file to disk. And, as Wimster explained, open it with a text editor (like Notepad for example). Everything in front of the ":" is the iP number, which you should use to connect to the server from *within* the game. Just type in that number where the points (".......") are after you chose "Join a game".

YES! You must be a genius! That's the one thing I changed when I moved to my new PC! The IP I use is the British one, 'Freeserve'. They don't allow you to send e-mails if your phone is set up in a certain way - the phone in my house just happens to be set up in the way they don't like!

Thankyou! I'll change back to my old IP - that should fix it. Thanx http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

YES!

The Jazz 2 Community is now one stronger. I'm back!!

Time in UK is now (checks Windows clock) 17:34. I'm on!!!

Thankyou to everybody who's posted here. I've saved this page for offline viewing, as it will prove a good troubleshooting document should I ever have a similar problem. http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I can get a quote of the day... http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

And the time...

And a huge load of nothing...

And a repeating screen of charactars

And a serverlist... http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Um that's not what I meant. I mean that when I host a level nobody is able to join. I try to host puzzle levels.

It's in the Windows registry.

Goto: Start -> Run

Run: regedit

Goto: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Epic MegaGames -> Jazz Jackrabbit 2 -> 1.23 -> List Servers
