I have to deal with thoose CTO's quite often. I don't know what causes them though.

Probably the badness of your connection plus the badness of server's connection causes you to time out. As was proven (in a way) by you in my server this morning.

Do you have a router?

If so...there have been a million other posts about them in Technical Help.

If not...I don't know

also if you use windows software for your networking thats the problem do this:

Goto internet options in the tools (for me anyway, i have win Me) then goto connections> then click the sharing button. Now un tick the box which reads: Enable internet connection sharing.

because if its enabled it will autmaticaly time you out like you have been doing.

Arr, I'm in one of my college's computer labs right now and all the workstations have Win2k professional installed. If somebody doesn't beat me to it, I'll post about it when I get back home and fire up my XP box.
