Well, i finished up my script, which i appropriately called jj2srvinfo and released it on sourceforge. It's a fun little script that connects to a jj2 game for a bit, then retrieves the levelname an a list users currently playing.
It's written in Ruby, so go to www.ruby-lang.org and follow a few links to download it, if you don't have it already.
As for the script itself, it's available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/jj2server
If you have any suggestions or bugs, feel free to post 'em.

I didn't think you would get it done so quickly! ;)
I took a quick look at the code, and it looks pretty cool. I haven't been able to try it yet though, because Ruby is still compiling on my 60MHz machine. Do you know if there is a windows intepreter for it? That would be useful.

I can't find it, what's this "follow a few links"?!
Give us a link to it's page.

Well, Ruby finally compiled last night, and I got to test it out (I didn't have time to post last night, though).
This program is GREAT! When you run it, it comes up with a nice little menu, which has four options.
The first option is to select the list server; either jazz.logicware.com or monolith.idlegames.com
Then the second option gives you the list of servers, from the server list, and you can select one of those, and then it will connect to that server, and retrieve the level filename AND the list of players!
So I highly recommend it. I may make a VB version of it if I can contact Cheeze and find out some more about the GNU GPL license.

There is a windows version; that's half the reason i used it. Since it's a high-level language, it doesn't take much to port it to other systems.
As for the windoze link, it's http://www.pragmaticprogrammer.com/ruby/downloads/ruby-install.html
I didn't think it was that hard to find...just find the download link and then the one that tells you about downloading it for windoze.
As for VB, i really don't see a reason why. Well, there's always the fact that it'll prolly be a *little* bit smaller, since you won't have to download the interpreter, and maybe a little bit faster.. As for the code, i'm guessing that it'd be bigger and little longer to write.
