Jazz 2 IRC Channel

Some have you may have heard of #jj2, the JJ2 IRC channel. But that sort of died. I'm thinking of starting it up again, but I need some support. I don't want to start up something that nobody will use.

I am thinking of setting up an eggdrop bot to help control the channel. This would allow auto-opping of certain trusted admins, kicking\banning people, some AI stuff with TCL scripting, and much more. If I have support, this may be my next project after ChatLogJJ2 II.

So what do you people think? Yes? No? Comments?

But most importantly, would you come to it? I know there are often quite a few people at a time on the J2O, so it would be kind of neat to have real time chat too. Eventually we could set up a website with a Java client and stuff.

Sounds like a cool idea, I would prolly visit it. I didn't get to visit #jj2 as much as I had wanted to in the past, though as long as a lot of people were there I'd come.

A chat thing actually on J20 would be cool, too. Haven't I ever suggested that our 5up3r-l33t skr1pt0rz make themselves a spiffed chatting section on J20? You could prolly be cool with one room, and stuff. C'mon!

Umm.. why make a bot when most of the irc servers out there already have something like the chanserv bot that does the outo-op, kick/ban, preserve the channel stuff (plus more)?

If it's on a good server, then I'll probably be there..

I don't really know.... cos I was addicted to iRC for a while and got really addicted to mIRC scripting so you could ask me to make a bot for you :). A good, small server to what I know of, cos I used to be a helper there, is Centralchat at irc.centralchat.net. It's quite family friendly and well, it doesn't really net split that often. This is a good server I think cos it aint like Efnet or Dalnet and no viruses are around heh. So yes, I like the idea and a server with it :)

Yes, but only if we going to use the irc.quakenet.org host ^-^
because of the Q bots and thats the place where all the at least 80% of clans are (like [GpW]) Also tons of website admins are here like wolfenstein.nl clanbase barry'sworld etc..

I can arrange Q in a Jiffy but need 4 Op-ted people.. I think at #JJ2 or #jazz2online would be the channels then ^.^

I agree with Shadow. Only if it's on icr.quakenet.org as host. #[GpW] already as a channel there.. Come visit us! You can play the Trivia Game with my special little bot. l33tBot. He really is sup4r l33t. I already have 3 mIRC's running at a give time so it would be excellent if I didn't have to open another to join to another host.

I recommand the client BORGirc (www.borgirc.net)
It's a fast + stable client and the core is mirc + a lot of addons (scripts)

If it's on a server where my hostname is not autokicked.. I have been autokicked because of my hostname at several servers for bob knows what reason..

And putting a chat on j2o is too much strain for the server. It prolly can't take it, if our host doesn't even kick us off.
