"Burst Day" and "Ash Day" are probably related to Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday.

In the Christian religion, Shrove Tuesday (February 12th this year) is the day before Lent. In Lent you are supposed to give up something, and in the old days it was often eggs or meat or something good like that. A big festival always happens on the Tuesday before Lent, and people eat and eat until they burst (lol..."Burst day") to celebrate the upcoming season of Lent (and to prepare themselves for their loss of food ;))
