View Full Version : How can we "advertise" Jazz Jackrabbit 2?

How can we make advertisements or signs that this game is great so our community of J2 players can increase? Here is one idea:
1. Go to www.gamefaqs.com and go to the sidebar, click PC, click on the letter J, find Jazz Jackrabbit 2 in the list of games, and then click Submit Review. Give it a good rating and it might appear in the GameFAQs' Top Ten Games bar.
Any other suggestions?

Were you here in 1999? Those were some pretty tough times. Agressive and hating n00bs and cloners. Maybe expanding the community isn't such a good idea.
(maybe it was 2000, not sure ;))

I don't think JJ2 is sold anymore, but you can always advertise on..... *Cough* Warez! *Cough* XP

We had ALOT of trouble in 1999. Everyone was cruel, hating... this community stuck together like super-glue though. ^-^
Personally I think the game is bad... so actually we shouldn't advertise in the first place.

But I don't think we should advertise too much, either.

You can put up ad banners on sites like Hotmail, but it costs money (about $20 US per 1000 views)

Well, I already got lots of my friends to play that game, at least 20 persons are playing with my TSF-version. Unfortunately, they only play very seldom online, so they aren't "of use" for the community...

Hmmmmmm.... I have a suspicion that they will tell their friends eventually and then they will tell their friends and so on and so on...
Wow, I think we might want to do the same! The community may actually grow from hundreds to thousands of people!

But will we still have the same relationships with all of us? Its hard to know a thousand people as friends.

Yes it will become like Unreal or CS where you dont know anyone you just try to kill someone unless you set up a meating somewhere... i like it much better small..

Dream on, foalks ;P
This game was never popular, and it never will be. That's not a bad thing either.
People just can't get interested in jj2 any more. It's too old of a game.

don't advertise. I don't like advertising.
I have my own 'core' friendship group here....the other people don't count as much as my 'real' friends here. Yeah, there's hundreds of other Jazzers, but only the 'core' matters a whole lot to me. =)
Oh, and--the more confused people we bring here, the more confusion.

I think the problem with too many people will be that noone knows each other, it will be even worse like with the new Jazzers today. This is the fact I like in THIS communnity, but a few players more sure wouldn't hurt...

What I want to say is that more players will perhaps be a kind of victory for the game, but sure not for the community...

I would think that we would need more players to join JJ2. Not necessarily hundreds of people, but just enough to replace everyone who leaves JJ2. Because sooner or later we all are gonna leave the community (I know I won't be playing this when I'm 33). And we probably shouldn't make fun of the newbies either (besides the fact that we were all newbies once) since they'll probably be future programers, hosting the next "Jazz2City" and making revolutional levels. So I conclude that maybe we need to to advertise JJ2 a little more, but not too much. Just enough to get more people playing...

The only way to kill a computer game is to kill the system it is one. Once the PC becomes obsolete, nobody will be playing jj2. Otherwise, people will always play it, even if very very little.

I don't want a bunch of people. I like this place the way it is where I pretty much know everybody...sort of.

Yes, but we definitely need new people. because old ones DO leave. But too much are worse, too...

This was perhaps a problem at very odl, base on DOS, games. But I think Epic put some kind of "speed-stopper" in Jazz, so it also runs on high systems. I'll soon get 2 Ghz...and then I'll be able to tell you more about that prob ;)!

Enough corrupt (and good) people. Let them poor in at the rates they are now.

We should make a Starter site ..
Extreme Simple with short descriptions (just facts) and a cool description of the community, the necessary progs ("xjj2",listserver,aso..), and the simplest things like how to chat with"t" .. ...there won't be very much people which we play it if they see it so no fear ;)
ERm i guess i repeated anything nm :D
Well and of course some banners...

XJJ2 a necessary program? It messes things up.
Anyway, my view is the same as Megumi's second pharagraph.
I like the community how it is now...nice and small. Though when there we re tons of newbies who didn't know about the message board and stuff, you could have to some real fun...
But remember all of the old flame wars and that period when massive amounts of people were leaving, rejoining, and releaving the community? That was bad and/or stupid.
I don't know.

I can't say anything about that...
But if you accept that new people come, it's sure not bad for the community, if there aren't too much nubs...

Mirrow has a good idea. I had it too, but I have always been too lazy to implement it. ;-)

A small, personal community is much more likely to survive than a large community of unknowns. While I don't play JJ2 anymore, I still LOVE being on the forums.

I think everything is fine as it is right now. Once everyone starts leaving, THEN we have a problem.
Gya Xeno, you should get another computer with a net connection so you can play. I barely play anymore because there's only ever noobs in TSF servers or an empty Battle Server when I have time to play.
