Servers Down

I think the JJ2 servers are down again. And I know lots of people like to make posts about the servers being down, but I think this is what I'll do. I think the wise thing to do would be to revive this topic over and over again every time the list goes down, so we wouldn't have to keep making topics over and over again. So they are down now, but once it happens about like 3 months from now, I will find this topic and tell you guys again. Sound like a good idea?

Do TSF/1.23 list from different servers, btw? I can list everythinjg between a few seconds in .123, and it need almost one minute till I get, at the moment, the message "Error when connecting to listserver" in TSF...

Yes. In fact, they are. According to my SERVMONITOR program (which monitors constantly JJ2 servers) it started at 8:52:21 PM PST last night and appears to be of a human's actions, as there was no jump in ping before the servers went down. Epic may be doing maintnence...heh...I also believed myself for a second.

Everyone just use Monolith's list server.
Go to HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Epic Megames\Jazz Jackrabbit 2\1.23\List Servers in your registry and make monolith.idlegames.com the value data of one of the strings (000, 001, or 002). This will work even if you have Alberto's patch; just add a string value named 000 with data monolith.idlegames.com.

I heard from Spazzyman that Burger is just replacing the logicware list server (with a better one), so the logicware list server will be back up soon, no worries.

Indeed, it would be nice if this was possible. Unfortunately, permanently fixing the serverlist would require making the computer that serves it to never crash. And if you've ever used a computer, you know how possible that is. ;P

The server lists went down quickly around 8:45 PM tonight. There was no instability before the crash, and no previous outings during the day. The server lists have not been down for several days previous to this.

I e-mailed Burger (the previous owner of logicware.com) about it and here is his reply.

It's justified according to what Magoo wrote in the first post. Though if you ask me, I don't see it as a big deal to start a new thread every once in a while. And anyway, you can't expect newer users to revive this thread as opposed to starting a new one.

In my opinion reviving this thread isn't all that necessary anymore. I created it originally because the servers were going down pretty much every week.
