Anyone know any way to convert TSF levels into regular Jazz2?

Sorry, don't know. Haven't we had that question before?

I don't believe so. I've tried everything I can do to get a 1.24 level to open in 1.23 JCS, but I can't make it open.

Hehehe. Rebuild them in JCS v1.23 http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I tried to make a patch that will convert the TSF JCS to v1.23 JCS. The file size was bigger than JCS's.

What do you mean by "converting the TSF JCS to the Jazz 2 JCS"? I'm afraid I don't fully understand.

Well I made a patch that will convert the TSF version of JCS to JCS used in v1.23. The patch size was nearly 1MB. Is this enough?

heh... you repeated exactly the same thing you said previously. What I don't understand is what you mean by "converting" the TSF JCS to the 1.23 JCS. Do you mean converting it so that it'll handle TSF level formats and can be played in normal Jazz 2? Or the other way around? Please explain your brains out.

Just like if you delete the TSF version of JCS and put there the 1.23 version of it. The TSF jcs will act just like JCS for v1.23 after it's patched. It won't be able to edit TSF levels.

Cpp
Apr 26, 2001, 02:24 PM
Well 1.23 JCS is unable to edit TSF levels and jazzers that have jj2 v1.23 can't play TSF levels. I wanted to make a patch that will allow TSF users to convert the TSF jcs to jcs v1.23 so they can make 1.23 levels that 1.23 users will be able to play.

ElectroPiZZa

... so what you're saying is, you want TSF users to be able to create TSF levels that run on 1.23? Or that you want 1.23 users to have the TSF JCS converted to 1.23 format so that people can "finally" make 1.23 levels? OR that you want TSF converted to be run with 1.23 so that you can finally convert TSF to 1.23 and vice-versa, or the other way around, depending on which version of Jazz you have, and also if you prefer making TSF levels or 1.23 ones, and that if you make 1.23 levels, they'll be compatible with TSF? Or the other way around? Or you want TSF users to be able to create TSF levels with the TSF JCS? Or you want 1.23 users to make TSF levels so that they can't be run on 1.23? Also, considering the fact that TSF has a JCS... AAAAAAH! *bangs head on table millions of times*

They want 1.24 on 1.23. =P

(which is impossible, since the tileset sizes are too large, and they use too many colors in the palette or something like that =P)

This would be a cool idea I really wanna use the Easter Tileset heh. And the Haunted House tileset sounds like a changelling set for me to use. Are Tilesets even included in this idea?

Aw come on, I understand Overlord. I'll try and explain:

Imagine 2 ppl and J2O. On second thought, don't imagine J2O, it exists. One of the ppl has only 1.24 and the other has only 1.23. K? the 1.24 person can use the patch file so his 1.24 JCS creates lvls that the 1.23 guy can play.

Tublear, this may sound weird, but the Easter set (The Easter99 set without the choco bunnies) of TSF is compatible with v. 1.23. I think it's on J2O right now.

Nuh-uh. Even the most simplest level which is 1.23 compatiable, if made in TSF JCS, will not work in 1.23.

Example: If you're making a level in 1.23 JCS, it will obviously work in 1.23. But say you accidently open it in the TSF JCS and save it. Boom. No more working with 1.23. (I'm pretty sure.)

Bobby aka Dizzy

Ice M A N is correct. I think it would be a good idea though to try and figure if there is a way to force 1.23 JCS to open 1.24 JCS levels that it could handle, meaning the tileset isn't too large and the level not have new events or make use of too much stuff.

I have a great reason for someone making such a prog, and it is my own dillemma:

(Stupidly) I opened one of my newest levels in the TSF JCS so that I could see how it ran, and I wanted to see if it was, ahem, "Lori compatable". So, being the genous that I am, I clicked "Save and Run", instead of just copying the file into my TSF folder and running TSF. I guess I had forgotten that you couldn't play or try to edit levels in 1.24 format under 1.23. That's dumb, becuase I was using the Jungle tileset, which has no changes in TSF.

All that hard work, gone to waste =(

Uh...isn't it easier to just install 1.23 in one directory and TSF in another?

Works just fine for me.

Well, can you not hold "B", drag over a whole layer and copy it to another lvl... on second thoughts, that may not work...

Hmm... Making 1.23 JCS to open TSF levels? I'll see what I can do. Remind me after 3 weeks http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I know. I used that tileset in one of my 1.23 levels.

[EDIT: I was making that fact more clear.]

I would make my levels in JCS. Then I would save it as "Bean123noname1.j2l". If I wanted to run my levels in TSF server, I would make another copy of the level and save it as "Bean124noname1.j2l". So there's like a one way conversion. So careful not to oversave your 1.23 levels.

I'm wondering if the format of both 1.23 and 1.24 levels are way too different.

But I'm trying to go from 1.24 > 1.23. I doubt them epic peoples would even consider it, after all, then there would be no point to selling TSF anymore (if they still do, anyway.)

Isn't it possible to create something that reads tile coordinates and the tiles. So it chooses the right tileset in jcs 1.23 and build it automaticly?

i never heard of something what Does that

So i think it isnt possible

Don't bother expecting a converter from TSF to 1.23 levels. Since then Jazz2 players will be able to download those 9 big levels that they don't have, and TSF will be useless.
