JDC is officially reopening tomorrow with a CTF event. Go <a href="http://www.jazz2online.com/jdc">here</a> to sign up to JDC. A new account is required due to the changes in the JDC scoring system. Go <a href="http://www.jazz2online.com/jdc/info.php">here</a> for information on the new system JDC is using.
The event will start at 8:00 PM EST. Anybody who signs up to JDC may participate. The password for the event is going to be posted on the site.

JDC admins, please be fair and print out the GMT times of events etc., too, at least in brackets. You can look it up here (http://www.speech.cs.cmu.edu/~sburke/static_tz.html) or directly convert times here (http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc). Thanks!

I like Aiko's idea. I still can't memorize these darn American timezones. Wasn't EST -6, making GMT be 6 hours later? Which makes the opening duel be 12 PM GMT time, and 1 AM here in the Netherlands?

I sure hope there is a server for Europeans too. :)

I have an idea.

Let people set their timezone in their user settings, and when they login, all the times will be displayed in their own timezone. That should work :)
Just make sure you take daylight saving time into account. EST is Eastern Standard Time, not EDT, which is Eastern Daylight Time. Daylight saving time has been in effect since April 7th, so if you are reporting the time in EST, adjust your time one hour backwards. I've missed events (in other games) before, due to this confusion.

I also have a few questions about JDC events:

- How long do they last?
- Do you have to stay for the whole thing to get credit?
- Can you join in the middle of the game?
- What happens if you have to leave? (due to outside circumstances)

I've just never been in a JDC event before, so I don't know these specifics.

I'm thinking I'll be involved in JDC this season, because I really want to improve my JJ2 skills.

Events last about an hour, but it depends on the event.
Yes, you can join in the middle of the game, but you will not recieve as many points.
If you have to leave, you will recieve points for what you were a part of.

Btw, I'll try and get JDC set up to allow people to choose a timezone they want to see the site in and make defaults GMT time.

There are lots of different kinds of events.

Also, JDC will probably start doing Euro Events pretty soon, just like last season. This means that Europeans don't have to be playing at strange hours in order to be in an event.

*note*

You can now set your GMT offset by going into your user details page after you log in. By doing that, you can make all times on the JDC site be in your time zone, assuming you are logged in.

If you do not set your GMT, or you view the page when logged out, all times will be GMT.
