Spaz - 30%

I think Jazz is better, as most of the community has played the game for a while, now. Spaz is good for newer players and some of his die-hard fans. Jazz is better for more advanced players, and people who are too lazy to change the player. ;-P

Yeah...

Spaz is much more agile. If you need to jump high with Jazz, you must first stop and duck. And even then you can't move much on the way up. Spaz, however, can jump higher than Jazz, and he can do so even while running, making him better for dodging seekers and such. Overall, Spaz is superior... especially for multiplayer :-P.

Spaz. Mainly because of his double jump technique, but also because of his sidekick.

But...Jazz's helicopter ears help when you want to land in a certain place. I still like Spaz better, though http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif

whoa, people! Good JJ2 players choose spaz, because of the higher places you can get to! Example, look at one of the colon levels: at the top of a building, you're supposed to shoot 3 seeker blocks to get a gold coin. But due to Spaz's jumping, bam! get there free! Jazz is good, but Spaz is MUCH more manuerable. Jazz's uppercut is, sorry to say, not great. Spaz's kick is GREAT for taking out tonnes of enemies in a row, without getting hurt or wasting bullets!

Spaz is better, because his double-jump is used for both of Jazz's moves: Super-jump, and helicopter-ears.

So, since Spazz's one move does the same as both of Jazz's moves, he can have an extra sort of, which is his handy-dandy slide kick! Plus, his double-jump can get him to places which Jazz cannot get to.

Well, there doesn't seem to be any sensible rants on this topic, which is why I've chosen to present one. This isn't about taking sides, but rather, it's about the pros and cons of each character.

Jazz:

Jazz is a suitable character for those who know how to defend themselves but might need a boost in an attacking advantage. While Jazz might be harder to lug around the levels without any double jumps, Jazz users would have to use their brain to think about some solutions to certain situations. Naturally, Jazz's uppercut move has a higher priority than any of the character's buttstomp moves (weapon zero), as well as Spaz's sidekick and Lori's hairspin. With strategic weaponry and use, Jazz can also simulate horizontal and diagonal uppercuts, which can be very dangerous if used by a skilled player as the move will override all others. Jazz also possesses semi-helicopter ears, which allow users to place him in dire situation with ease and speed; this move also allows Jazz to cancel out certain types of fire that is slower than his flying speed. Jazz, however, does not possess the double jump move, which is a major downfall for Jazz users at certain problems involving vertical climbs. Most of the time, however, Jazz can get around this problem with the uppercut move, which takes a little more time to execute.

Pros:

-Can float to safety, strategy, and into the direst of situations without harm. He can also defeat others in horizontal runs.

-Has a higher attack priority than the others. His uppercut move will override the other special moves at any timing.

Cons:

-Cannot handle vertical climbs very easily, if not at all.

-The dodging and execution of attacks is more difficult than Spaz's or Lori's.

Fact:

-Jazz outperforms other characters in the bottom portion of the level.

Attack Priority:

Jazz: 2

Lori: 1.5

Spaz: 1

Spaz:

Spaz is an exceptional character to use for those who can give up better attacks and strategies for better defense. Spaz can span the most amount of situations, which is why there are so many Spaz-based levels today. In an ordinary multiplayer level, however, might pose problems to Spaz as his advantages may not come in handy. In addition to his terrific vertical climb, he isn't bad at vertical runs, either, as his double jump can get him a little further than a hormal jump. Though Spaz comes with a load of abilities that help him avoid fire and deadly moves, he doesn't come without his problems. Unlike Jazz, on a vertical run, Spaz cannot cancel out incoming fire with his body. This isn't a big deal, unless you're extremely careless, or are in a battle with iCeD, where it wouldn't matter what you did. Another downfall is his inability to span dire situations that involve falling and vertical runs well. While Spaz owns the top of the level, Jazz primarily owns the bottom. This could also be a problem, as attacking downward with any character requires a nice strategy, and attacking upward requires little.

Pros:

-Outperforms Jazz and Lori in jumping in every way. Has an edge in vertical climbs.

-Can escape dire situations more easily than Jazz or Lori can.

Cons:

-Has the lowest attack priority of the three.

-Can escape dire situations, but cannot span through them.

Fact:

-Spaz outperforms the other two characters at the top of a level.

Jumping ability:

Spaz: 2

Jazz: 1.5

Lori: 1

Lori:

Lori would seem to be the underdog of the three characters. Lori, however, is just as good as the other two mentioned above. Her offense and defense swings half a point either way. Lori is a combination of Jazz and Spaz without any jumping advantage whatsoever. Her hairspin is much faster than Spaz's sidekick, though its range isn't as far; and it doesn't match the priority of Jazz's uppercut move, though the hairspin can be better placed. Her semi-helicopter ears also take an advantage over Spaz in a horizontal run, but Jazz's uppercut move combined with the semi-helicopter ears outperforms Lori once again. Lori's jump, however, is no match for Spaz's. Lori's compatibility with both dire and quick situations is better than both Jazz's and Spaz's. Instead of outperforming the other two characters in the top or the bottom of the level, Lori's best place to be is without a doubt, in the middle.

Pros:

-Is compatible with more heavy situations in gameplay than Jazz or Spaz. Lori has an advantage with horizontal runs.

-Has a large range to outperform the other two characters in.

Cons:

-Lori has the worst jumping ability.

-Her attack comes in little use sometimes.

Fact:

-Lori outperforms the other two characters in a %50 range of the middle level. (About eight percent of the top, and eight percent of the bottom included.)

Situation compatibility:

Lori: 2

Spaz: 1.5

Jazz: 1.5

Total advantage:

Jazz: 5.0

Spaz: 4.5

Lori: 4.5

What does all of this mean? This means that Jazz is an exceptional character to use in single player, and very well-rounded in multiplayer. Spaz would be okay to use in single player, and pretty useful in multiplayer. Lori would be well-rounded in both modes of play.

What character is the most suitable for you to use?

Jazz is good for those with good defensive skills and less emphasized offensive skills, where the character would get a boost.

Spaz is good for those with good offensive skills and less emphasized defensve skills, where the character would get a boost.

Lori is good for thise with a well-balanced set of offensive and defensive skills, less the use of good jumps; dire and heavy situations being emphasized on.

Those who pick a combination of the three (or two if you only have 1.23) can balance out their skills in a short amount of time.

I prefer Jazz over Spaz, and Spaz over Lori. I also believe he is a better character altogether, as well. Would anyone care to write a rebuttal? ;-P

Mmm, rants. Okay. Here goes (note that all ratings are points above average):

Jazz> Special Moves: 'Copter Ears, Uppercut

Jazz is one for the cautious and skillfull mind; one with fast reflexes and precision accuracy. Jazz has his disadvantages, but they can virtually be either avoided or looked over. His copter ears can allow for precision landing, or simply to cut corners to go faster or to avoid a weapon easier. His uppercut gets him up pretty high, and makes him invulnerable for a short while. On the other hand, though, the uppercut takes longer to do than Spaz's Double Jump, but with expertise it actually can be pulled off rather fast. It also does damage, which has it's rare uses. Since his special moves seem more inclined for movement, I wouldn't bet on Jazz being an attacker (except for his uppercut, which allows him to jump higher than normal, is mostly a pain but did give him .1 in attacking for that rare invulnerablitiy). He is normally taller than Spaz, but in dogfights can get the shortest crouch out of all 3 of them, giving him both a offensive and defensive boost. Use Jazz if you want increased Defense skills, but only if you are a good defender already. Otherwise, if you cannot utilize and master Jazz (including his offense, where it is equally important to have good skills there, to make up for his horrible attributes there), you will crumble and might as well use a (IMHO) slightly worse rabbit, like Spaz. Jazz is my favorite rabbit. He also gets top Bonus Points for being in JJ1, totally oldsk00lish, looking "cooler", and, well, being a big brother. And we all knew/know how annoying younger siblings are. ;)

Pros: Defense rules, with good agility and decent power if you can handle Jazz.

Cons: Hardest to master of all the rabbits, and can't jump as high as Spaz, and is more lacking than I'd like in the Power department.

Power: .4

Agility/Jumping: .7

Endurance: 1

Total: 2.1/4

Spaz> Special Moves: Double Jump, Karate Chop

Spaz, IMHO, is one for the savage fighter. One who quicks thinkly yet does not have a specific battle plan works best with Spaz. His Double Jump allows such maneuverability, and also to reach a whole tile higher than his brother Jazz. Spaz requires a bit less brainwork, as his appearance may show. He can fight more ruthlessly it seems, jumping back and forth with that double jump. Jazz's "paratrooper copter move" just can't seem to match up. Spaz's Double Jump also "doubles" as defense among both agility and power, too. Spaz is definitely the ruler of vertical movements; and Jazz is the ruler of horizontal movements. They even out, though. Spaz's Karate Kick, though, is the elite of dogfighting, and can kick over a short amount of springs providing there's enough headroom. Spaz is also a bit shorter than Jazz, but not enough to matter much. His crouch is pretty large though, enough to be able to get hit while others standing up, as opposed to Jazz, which in turn takes down is Power rating just a little and the same with Endurance (which, frankly, wasn't the best thing to start out with anyway) Bonus Points? .5 for being that cute little rascal he is, and for the odd name and it's origin, hehe.

Pros: Easy to use, and can pack a wollop in a hurry, getting in and out of there with such precision you wouldn't know what happened by the time the lag clone got you.

Cons: Can't hold up in battle if cornered or in a standoff, and can't match his partner Jazz in horizontal virtues.

Power: .9

Agility/Jumping: .7

Endurance: .3

Total: 1.9/3

Lori> Special Moves: 'Copter Ears, Hair Spin

Lori, is, like Derby said, the underdog. With no special jumping ability at ALL, Lori's already a bit behind in the Agility department. Lori, though, if you're lucky enough to be playing in a level that is "Lori compatible", is a fairly well rounded rabbit. Her spin attack is similar to Spaz except it is quicker (ends quicker, and goes faster), and also is prone to falling more off of cliffs. Her 'Copter is just like Jazz's.

Pros: Well rounded abilities makes Lori a good rabbit for anyone, and is harder for your opponent to find a direct weakness in you.

Cons: Is almost fatally jump-retarded.

Power: .5

Agility/Jumping: .4

Endurance: .6

Total: 1.5

Well, there's my two cents.

If you want my vote: Jazz gets one vote and Spaz gets one vote.

It all comes down to that it's harder to finish a level with Lori, which makes the game more challenging. This is one of the reasons I prefer to play a level with Lori, rather than with Jazz or Spaz.

Tanpopo Kiku
May 10, 2001, 08:45 AM
The fact is that Jazz is better if you're in a big fire-fight, because he can resist fire with his helicopter ears.

But Spaz can move much faster, tho he can't resist firepower that easily. His jumping is very good.

As far as Lori, http://jazz2.nagcentral.com/forum/images/smiles/lori_icon.gif her jumping skills SUCK. No offense, but they do. She's cute, yeah, but fighting is everthing here.

Tips: For Jazz, wait below narrow vertical drops like this, then when the Other player falls close enough to the ground for the uppercut, then smack him:

|O|

For Spaz, if people are chasing you in a narrow hallway, turn back freeze him and sidekick him.

As for Lori, I can't think of anything.

Kiku: All the characters move at the same speed, although it may seem that some are more agile than others. Race the two characters and you will find that out.

Batty Buddy: Lori's hairspin has a higher attack priority than Spaz. You cannot determine this in a remote server (one hundred milliseconds equal one second, high ping will destroy the margin.) However, the faster the attack is, the higher the priority. Jazz's attack move (the uppercut) is an exception, as you are required to come from below instead of the side. This information was presented earlier, though it was only edged for the time.
