I'm an avid JJ2 player, as I'm sure the rest of you are as well. I enjoy playing over the Net. Problem is, I can't find any TSF battle, treasure, or CTF servers open anymore (stupid test levels... rar.) Anyway. I'm considering switching back to 1.23. What version of JJ2 would you say is the better one for me, 1.23 or 1.24?

1.23. The players on 1.23 tend to be more skilled, friendlier, against cheat programs and do not host hotels all that often.

I'm sending Aiko out for you Mike! Just wait!
Anyway, this is not true. In TSF there's real play. People dont play because they always have. They play to be the best. And they don't regulary use trainers.
It's your own choice if you keep in hotel levels or not. TSF-ers even start to talk English! The only reason not to use TSF is when there's noone on while you can play.

Which is, for me, most of the time. I live a quarter of the way around the world from most JJ2 players! So while all the good servers are up, I'm at school... and while I'm able to play JJ2 at home, all the server hosts are asleep!
I'm sure this brings about the question: "Well, why don't you host a server then?" There's actually a very simple answer to that.
My stoopid router at my house has a built in firewall, and that firewall blocks anything that has to do with... anything else. Needless to say, I can't host servers while the stupid thing is between my computer and the Net.
That's why I need other pplz to host servers. If anyone would be kind enough to stay up till, oh say, midnight-ish, maybe 2:00 in the morning, to host a JJ2 server, that would be much appreciated by a certain Canadian Psychopath Scooterboy. :D

There is real play in basically battle1 only. Also, I seem to get banned from servers very often on TSF for no apparent reason I can find other than I might be scoring too much or something.

Heh. Thanks, Newspaz.
Well, EvilMike is so wrong. But i don't feel like arguing on a sunday morning :-)
A more relevant reason for using 1.23 is your (canadian) timezone. Most US players do not have TSF, so there may be a few more servers up at US prime time. In fact, if i observed that correctly, there are hardly any servers in 1.23 at all these days.

thats so true when you are scoring too much and they cant
win go 3 0n 1 and still loses then they ban you
and on TSF they are always thinking that you are cheating when you are winning..
id say use 1.23 only

There's not such much players on 1.23 as 1.24

CIVILIZATION ;)!
I personally prefer 1.23. But due to my timezone, I rarely can play there. So I mostly play TSF...but there are too few people that really can make it hard for you to win. And Jazzing is no fun then, imho.

You just need a little luck when joining a TSF server. There are servers where you get kicked off as soon as you roast the hoster. But hey, there are some really friendly guys around on TSF as well!
As for the skill level... well, nobody can deny that the average battle and ctf skills are somewhat higher on 1.23 But please, don't think that all the TSF servers are hosted by jerks ;)

Hmm, a few ones. But most good TSFers already got 1.23 and prefer playing it. I also prefer 1.23, but I already told you why I play TSF. And additional, I just have 1.23 for a few months now. Lots of my older friends are not that popular here because they play TSF only, and it's the only way to meet them. I myself am very popular on TSF, that kinda rules. I already met people I did not know that made a room in their hotel for me ;)!
