This thread is intended to help both newbies and oldies, not insult anyone.
Some newbies will swear, this is normally cause they want attention, then most of the people that hear it will hate them. They have probably tried to get attention without swearing, however everyone has ignored it. When the oldies start to hate them and they realise this, they stop doing it but they still hate them anyway.
I dont want it to continue forever like this. They want to get to know people, and they really arent trying to do any harm well unless you do something they dont like..
Simply the word "newbie" has become almost like a bad word for oldies to speak of.
Even though I am an orange yoshi I wish everyone got along sometimes ;)

Of course, they should understand that first impressions are the most important...

Well, the Jazz 2 Community includes a few hundreds of members. Nobody can be the center of the universe here. So if you're a newbie and want to get attention, simply post at the JCF and play online regularly. After a while, people will surely acknowledge your existence ;) So there's no need to swear, we've all been newbies once!

The word "newbie" isn't even a word, so why would people get offended by it?

According to the dictionary, a newbie is "One that is new to something, especially a novice at using computer technology or the Internet".

I am not saying you should stop calling people newbies, just dont use it in a bad way. And no, I dont think newbies should be treated better than oldies, in my oppinion they should get as much attention as oldies.
Am I comunist :p

Well I'll be, newbie is a word. It must be a newer word since it isn't in older dictionaries.

Originaly posted from subspace.net: (well its from memory so not exactly :))
-Newbie-
Possibly taken from the word "new boy" in school terms.

And just wondering, but whats the point of this topic? There are so many so-called 'newbies' playing TSF that its sort of impossible to know everyone, since the size of the TSF community (if you can even call it that) is a lot bigger than our small little JJ2 community, in which all the 'members' probably met in the JMMB. Since i wasn't playing JJ2 when all the now-called oldies were still playing, i cant even tell if a new name i see on the JCF or on the J2O downloads page is a newbie or an oldie from b4 my time who started playing again!

I don't think anyone is hated for swearing. I think that, without a censor, most people here would use minor swearing. The censor is mainly in place because young readers might exist, in some alternate realm, who would be offended by it.
