ICQ Issue

Whenever I try to add anyone to ICQ, it doesn't work. If I click on "Add/Invite Users", the ICQ window just toggles on and off from being the active window to not being the active window. Whenever I attempt to download one of those programs that adds a single user to the list, the download window pops up and suddenly closes. Also, whenever I change a setting, it ignores the changes. I have Windows 98 First Edition and ICQ 2000b and I need to change settings ASAP for security reasons.

Get the latest version (2002a). That might help (maybe they aren't compatible with older versions anymore?)

Or you could try Trillian (http://www.trillian.cc). It lets you have ICQ, MSN, AIM, and Yahoo! in one program, and also can act as an IRC client. It also has a simpler interface without the ads.
