Wile E. Coyote: Unfortunate villain, or misunderstood anti-hero in the literary sense?
Discuss.

Animal behaving in accordance with the laws of nature (and the laws of gravity, with a small delay time) by attempting to prey on prey.

So, basically, a creature of nature with no unnatural bend toward good or evil?

Well, technologically inclined creature of nature.

Unfortunate villain. Unfortunate because he buys Acme products. Talk about brand preference.

Animals can't be evil!
You need intelligence for being evil!
And what the heck is evil at wanting to eat a bird?
Stupid cartoons!
Did I loose my humour?
I want an episode where the bad guy finally wins!:D

Intelligence? Wile E. IS, after all, a super genius. :-)
That's what this discussion is about, really... is Wile E. the bad guy, or is he simply a misunderstood anti-hero who can't seem to win?

I think that Wile E. is misunderstood, and that maybe he should go after easier pprey. Wouldnt be as funny, but at least he wouldnt starve.

I've always wondered why with all of the money he must spend on those freaking Acme products that never work, he doesn't use it to go out a just buy a god-forsaken pizza. It probably would taste better anyway.
Or perhaps he just wants the satisfaction of catching what he could never seem to get.
THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH ISN'T EVEN CLOSE TO HUMOR
Actually, all of those cartoons were just metaphores for real life situations, and the reason they were so popular is because in people's subconsious they realize the truth behind them. You see, the Road Runner is a symbolism of happiness, and Wile E. Coyote is your basic every-day Joe who is always in every conceivable way trying to reach happiness, but never can. He can buy any gadget or gizmo or tool and be as confident as he wants, but it never seems to be achievable. The other cartoons mean something too, but I am tired and want to go to bed.
