What do they mean by 'Files'? I played this game and I couldn't find any secret files. Does anyone know what they mean with the name?

You get a "secret" password after finishing the three TSF episodes. There once was a directory on the Project 2 server, where you had to enter that password and then you were able to get some...level, if i remember right. They also tried to build some kind of story around the "secret" (something with "Valhalla", iirc).

I remember that, they had done an Easter level contest and if you got the password you could go download the winning level. I think the other entries were included.
The name itself was supposed to kind of suggest 'director's cut' or a nice add-on to the original Jazz 2, which it wasn't because it was rushed and not done under proper circumstances. Dean had mentioned it was originally going to be called Diamond Edition, again suggesting extra development. (This is why he had drawn the title pict. depicting Jazz with the diamond)

Does anyone still have this level? I now have Jazz 2 TSF and would like to play this new level.

Project 2 was bought by GOD later, which then went bankrupt. Double the bankrupt fun. ;)
As for the level, I remember it as not anything special, but I no longer have it.

Project 2 was bought by GODgames? Aha? Never heard that before. I thought it was aquired by a dutch company and was re-founded as Project 3 (at least for a while).
I doubt your info, Trafton. Whats your source for that?
As for "Hot Cross Bunnies", that winning level by Carrots of J2LC, i just uploaded it for all you n00bs: Hot Cross Bunnies (http://41k0.org/jazz/xe-carrotiz.j2l), btw, is isn't that great imho. It's the version that came with CC99, i didn't have the time to find the original from good ole' J2C.

well what exactly is valhalla. u read in the tsf manual it says at the end you will find a password for valhalla to download. is this the secret level from project 2?
Aiko

I have no idea what they mean by Valhalla.
A web lexicon i consulted says:
"1. Valhalla Valhallaor Walhallaboth: valhäl´e, -hal´e, in Norse mythology, Odin's hall for slain heroes. This martial paradise was one of the most beautiful halls of Asgard. The dead warriors, brought to Valhalla by the Valkyries, fought during the day and feasted at night. ..."
Well, i think it's just a not very elaborated or uncompleted story they tried to build around the game. Something to print on the back of the CD box :)
Apart from that, i don't really remember if there is a hidden level that comes with TSF. Do you guys have a level called "guess.j2l" in your TSF folder? That could be a bonus level, it has nothing but a boss.
Another "secret" level (not really :) in TSF is the mysterious "abattle1". It's a very good, but obviously unfinished Town battlemap without any weapons. "arace1" and "arace2" are two pretty undocumented levels that come with TSF as well (two nice, but somehow unfinished race levels, using Town and Haunted House).
And, to repeat it (you seem to keep on asking): "Hot Cross Bunnies" is not really a "secret" level. It's just the winning level from a level making contest that Project 2 hosted. Made by Carrots of J2LC. With the password from the end of TSF, you were able to download it from a passworded Project 2 server. If i remember right.
Not too cool, because you were able to download that same exact level many months before at J2C, again: if i remember right :-)

Um...what is that thing? I've noticed it before, and always kind of wondered. It would be interesting to get past that door.

How many manuals come in the jazz 2 tsf box? I heard there were 3.
Aiko
Sep 22, 2002, 03:42 AM
You heard it wrong. In the original Project 2 release, there is exactly *one* manual, of course.
JelZe GoldRabbit
Sep 22, 2002, 04:43 AM
Well, the TSF edition that comes with JJ2 for free has 3 manuals in total:
- one smal TSF manual (with only the story and Lori's moves
- two JJ2 manuals, one being in English, German and French and the other in dutch, Spanish and Italian.
Shame on you, Aiko ;)

my tsf manual says
The rules for playing Jazz Jackrabbit 2 "The Secret Files' are largly the same as those for Jazz Jackrabbit 2, a free CD Rom in which is enclosed. For installation, menu navigation, settings, rules of play, creation station and the party mode, see the instructional manual for Jazz Jackrabbit 2 enclosed in this box.
Now does that last part mean I only have 1 manual for jj2 what does your tsf manual say for the bottom of the english page?

Ya mean which level "grabbag.it"is in?
It's in QoBpuke.j2l,which is part of the large Queen of Board level pack.
(It's useless cos of too high difficulty!:p )
The pack is included in TSF.(At least it was with me)

Not to mention it's one of the most horrible tunes ever used in (such a good) J2 level.
And, before ElectroPizza will appear here: MODPlug Player is better for listening to modules (the kind of music files that is used in the JJ series). You can download it here (http://www.modplug.com/modplug/player.php3?session=). Personally, because i'm a actually a WinAmp fan, i also like the Oldsk00l MOD player plugin for WinAmp (http://fuel.adsl.dk/Oldsk00l.htm). It allows WinAmp to play old AMIGA mods correctly. Oh well, we get off topic here :-)
And triptothane, wow, you keep those weird questions coming. Respect. However, i'll will check my TSF manual about what you said. I think mine is different. Doesn't sound like the original P2 distribution. I could be wrong, though. I'll look it up, promised :-)
