View Full Version : Unknown Servers

I was wondering what the "Unknown" servers are. They aren't of any version in particular, either ping forever or have a ping time in the negative 2 billions (the equivilant of about a connection to Mars). Are they Epic's tests or a bug of some type?

XJJ2-hosted servers.

Sometimes they do appear correctly, but basically "Unknown" means that the server list cannot ping the JJ2 game properly.

I've seen those where the level type (well, XJJ2's attempt to put a level type at least) is "Unknown," but I mean the servers just named "unknown." Same thing?

I'm not sure.

Maybe that's the name that the list server puts if the name wasn't sent.

Do these unknown servers have an IP address?

I haven't checked. I will next time I see one up.

I always thought the Unknown servers were played on SW.

I always thought the Unknown servers were played on SW.

Maybe, but I remember hosting servers on SW that worked off my cousin's computer.

I forgot what the host was called but it usually had a couple what I think were on the same computer players as well.

actually, Christmas Chronicles servers act normal, and are version '1.24x', so it can't be a Christmas Chronicles server.

Use spy and delete the files in your cache that are getting CRC errors.

It turns out that they are all just Jazz 2 unpatched shareware servers that can not be possibly joined. Their hosts are normal, and are not named "Host." I've tried many times, but even using a direct IP number for the connection, it is impossible to join these servers. Now if only someone could explain "sdosih" to me. :p

Umh you can just use Overlords Program which is in Project Controller 4 Server Editor or something in that way its the same as HexEditing.

Why wouldn't you just get the 1.23 shareware patch? Besides, you can't hex-edit Jazz 2.

Then how would you call it opening Jazz2 with AN Hexeditor and changing the Version Hmmm?
