I have talked, most annoying, many times about wanting the sourcecode and wanting to make new characters for Jazz 2 which could be used online as well. Well, is it at all possible to take Jazz from Jazz 2 and use him in another 2D game? Let's say, for now atleast, that it's just a personal use. I won't release it to anyone else. Now since there is no source code, I'm guessing I can't TAKE from Jazz 2 as I can't ADD. So, perhaps the only way would be to actually CAPTURE every frame and put them back togther in an animation program? And then the game I want to put Jazz in would need to support mods, right?

Well, I can't really hack or program or make mods. But I am already capturing Jazz's animations because I wanted to see everything he does in the game so that, one day maybe, I could make Sonic playable in Jazz 2. But since I'm already taking these animations anyway, I could put Jazz in another game. But then, I couldn't share him, or I could get my *** well sued. :D

Well, this is just me talking to myself unless I ask something of you. So I will. Do you know if there are 2D games or emulated games that support mods? And have you ever really wanted to do this yourself (either making new characters for Jazz 2, or putting Jazz in another game)?

Dunno if I want any new 2D game, but I would like a Jazz-FPP. :P Well, OK, OK, I would like a karate game, where Jazz, Spaz, Lori, Eva, SOnic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Mario and other platform heroes would fight theirselves as bloody as they could.

I know some ROMS (don't kill me for saying that ugly word) have sprite editors. In fact, in one RPG, I added a Devan battle sprite for a villain. He wasn't very good, so I won't release it. And as for mentioning evil ROMS...

I am also Canadian, and proud of it. Before I get to the topic, I just want to say that I recently had relatives over from Australia for two weeks, and they made me appreciate Canada more. Because there are so many things they don't get there. A&W Root Beer or A&W I think! (I wouldn't be able to stand it!), lots of other things too, which I can't think of right now. Besides having some exclusive animal species, and getting some beautiful birds in their backyards and parks, as well as "paying what you see" because tax is included in the price (hint hint Canadian goverment!), Canada is probably better than Austrailia. Oh yeah, Canada is great!

Anyway, I got that outta my system now. What is so bad about Roms? If it's abandonware, than it's pretty much okay to do, and if it's a game you already own, well that's perfectly fine then. As for Warez, and burning newer games and selling them, I hate everyone who does it. They truely have no soul. Dreamcast died because of it.

Anyway, sounds cool. I wonder what game I could put Jazz in. I wanted to put him in Hunter Hunted, but that would require a lot of new animations, and I don't think Hunter Hunted supports mods. I wonder if Roms can get modded, or if you could take from them. You could do some pretty creative things in games. I think consoles usually have better quality games, but PCs always have infinite replay value with user made mods and official expansion packs. And PCs are mostly backwards compatible with older PC games (well not Windows XP), plus there's the emulated games... PCs are the ultimate gaming system, but they just don't get a lot of high quality games. Um, does that even make SENSE? Luckily Jazz has provided us with some console-like platfoming action. Yeah Jazz!

Well, ROMS are pretty much illegal unless you own the game (legal loophole :D ) and they're a touchy subject with the mods and admins. I can't really give a list of ROMS with sprite editors, mainly cause I can't think of them off the top of my head, but one game I'm a huge fan of, Earthbound, has sprite editors, text editors, enemy editors, item editors etc, and you could literally make a Jazz RPG. Or, for tradition, you could hack games like Contra, a shooter...the list is big. And that's just SNES games. SNES games are (supposedly) easiest to hack. Or, to be simple, someone could make a JJ2 mod for a FPS or 3PS. Or, just learn VB or one of those "make a game without programming knowledge" programs. Remember! Jazz will only die if we let it die.

Which we won't!

Paraphrased from... uh, someone
As long as the J2O community lives, JJ2 will as well. I heard that somewhere.

Actually, if you were to hack a ROM, you could make an .IPS patch, containing the changes, which is perfectly legal to distribute.:) Don'cha just LOVE legal loopholes?:p

Yes. Yes I do. :p Hmm, hacking roms, eh? I know nothing of how to do that, but that would be great because roms you can even play online with others.

Hmm, and since I already have many of Jazz's animations from Jazz 2, I wonder if it's illegal to post them up on my webspace for others to use in fangames as well? I'd be glad for my work to be appreciated by others (but the work of capturing them and putting them together is nothing compared to Nick Stadler who animated them), but I don't want Epic to get all ****ed at me and sue me! I was really just going to keep the gifs to myself. I'm fine with sharing, I just don't want to do anything illegal!

Um, okay, I never swear but two of my posts here have been "bleeped" out. That tells you this place is too sensitive to cussing. What I have said is mild stuff, I'm serious. It may be swearing to senior citizens, but I don't know any who play Jazz 2, do you? :D

Personally, I doubt Epic would notice or care if Nick's animations were put up on a website. Other sites have done it (like Lori Central and J2C). Actually, making a Jazz RPG by hacking a ROM might be a good idea...I'm sorta good at making RPGs and this one game has more than enough programs for it...perhaps this would be good to do after I finish Canadian Races on Jazz...hmm...*trails off*

No, you're too insensitive. No swearing at all. Much better that way. CLEAN WORLD.

It may be swearing to senior citizens, but I don't know any who play Jazz 2, do you? :D

Unless you count Poison IvEE or Sir Winner.

Okay, I guess I better watch my mouth - er, fingers? Keyboard? Whatever. I'm sorry for any swearing, I swear it wasn't deliberate, or else I would have known the censor would pick it up and I would find a way to by pass it. What I hate is when a part of a word is censored out and the word is actually clean. That's pretty annoying.

Well, anyway, so yeah, I hope it's okay to post the animated gifs for others to use, because you know what I have done is pretty easy. Anyone can do it, they are probably just lazy and waiting for someone else to do it. But, I would enjoy doing it more if I knew others would also get use out of it. Plus, Jazz will be in some fan games to play then, helping Jazz to never ever die!
