From the first time I started making tilesets I wondered - geez, how they make this texturee mode??!! I mean - I know what's a JJ2 palette, I know fdifferences between 1.23 and 1.24 tilesets, and what is "remap tileset palette" for. I don't want you to tell me exactly how to makle texture mode. Maybe you know some WWW page about it. Maybe there's an online tutorial somwhere. I'm REALLY desperated and I would do many things... just to know how to make this texture mode. I have Paint Shop Pro. I know how to edit image palette. Help PLZ. PLZ. PLZ!!!

...Close enough ;)
Anyway, the important thing:
These 32 colors must also be somewhere else in your tileset, or it will not work.

So they can't be in the place that Disguise showed?

That's not what I mean. If you are going to use a color in your background, it must occur in another place in your tileset, as well. For instance, if you used only one shade of blue for the rest of the tileset, the background couldn't be red.

Isn't that the exact opposite of what it says in the picture?

No.
"All colors MUST be put inside your tileset."
It's what it said, I believe. If I'm missing something, tell me.

The 32 colors must be in other places in the tileset, but none of them can be in other places in the palette.

Your palette and tileset image are completely different things, dont mix them up, I'm sure the images will show which is where ;)
Man, feels good to solve somehting without even posting, means I have more time to <s>make tilesets</s> play Warcraft 3!!! :D :D :D

OK, I get it. I made a single tile in my tileset which is a gradient using colours of my textured background. Is that what you mean?

As long as it uses all 32 colors, that should work.

Exactly what Unknown Rabbit said :p

OK, OK, just one more problem. I set the last color to total white (I made a lightful texture) and it looks OK in 16-bit, but in 8... I'm not sure that many people still use the cheap 8-bit colours, but if somebody does, this can be a problem.

Pure white and black dont work, use an alternative (255 blue, 250 red and green) that will look just like white...

Never, ever, EVER test a textured background in 16-bit. All textured backgrounds work in 16-bit (Except the one in Mezmerize, from what I can tell), it's 8-bit you have to worry about. If it doesn't work in 8-bit, it's not a "working" textured background.
And yes, don't use pure white or black.

Arrrrrrrrrrrgh. I changed the color to "aqua" like. And it still doesn't work. And one more question: which part of palette is used by pinball 500 bumps and paddles?

Sense I know how to do that (now) when I use a textured background maker its so hard to find a good pattern and when I do, and convert it to an 8 bit tileset palatte, it wouldnt use those same colours in the same position as in the textured background image?

That's ok. As long as it uses the same 32 colors, pasting it into the main image should work.
