View Full Version : Some are loudmouths, some have stealth: How'd ya come up with your war tavern self?

Que Passa!!!!
No, this isn't a story, It's kind of like those "Post Your Character" threads that pop up in this forum every once and a while.
But THIS one is different. We all have characters that we often use in our(And, in fact, sometimes someone ELSE'S) war tavern stories. But how did we come up with them? Did anything inspire us?
Please post how you came up with your character.
As is Batty Poll tradition, I'll start:
First of all, I'm a cartoon bat because- I like both cartoons and bats(Cartoons are art, and bats are cute.). As for my powers: the Cosmic Shift and my backpack were both inspired by one of my first favorite cartoon characters(I still like him, by the way) Felix the Cat: if you ever looked into Felix's adventures, you know that he has a magic carpet bag... Course, HIS can transform into things... and it probably doesn't go on the fritz as often as mine does(The only reason I chose a backpack rather then a carpet bag, is that a backpack is easier to keep track off... Oh, and you don't have to put it down someplace when you need to use both your hands.). He also used to pull cosmic shifts all the time
As for the bad luck thing, I don't really like all-powerful creations(Even when I make someone increadibly powerful, they all have some kind of quirk... Like a fasination for Yoyos or something). The cowardousness, and the bad luck are mostly to keep me humble.
Extra note: If this doesn't belong in here, please move it. Thank you.

So,uh,where to start...
Okay, like ya should know,I'm an artist.
If ya don't,look here! (http://www.side7.com/cgi-bin/S7SDB/Archive.pl?ANO=8879)
I was inspired by Pho,who also made me raise my skills saying that I have talent(looks like she was right!^.^).
I liked her character,although I couldn't at first identify what it is:p .
So I made me one,Fawriel, the weasel.
I took a weasel because that gave me the ability to show I have a large nose without actually drawing it!:p
And I made him green because-A:it's my fav.color and-B:my other nick(Piccolo, yea)is green as well.
I gave him the exact character I have, with my strengths and weakenesses.^.^
About special powers...
Magic!:D
I was thinking about what story I would make if I got the full power over Dragonball Z(yeah,me and my imagination, hehe:D).
And because I hated that simple"I'm strong so ph33r me"-principe,so I decided the new character shall have magical powers, the power of our planet earth!^.^
Okay,now anyone say I can't post long posts!:p

Please tell me you don't want the entire list of characters I've come up with at one time or another for War Tavern stories.
acid
Sep 21, 2002, 03:35 PM
Well, Acid came when I was trying to find a good MP character. At the time, I liked magma and other things like that. Acid is kinda like lava, I guess. Anyways, I was fiddling around with the character colors and I like Teal with a white headband and blue gun. I though AcId sounded like a good name for him, and the colors and name stuck. Ever since, AcId or Acid has been my username wherever I go. Lego, Neopets, Gruntz, Roller Coaster Tycoon, you name it. I was Acid. (Except for Starcraft, where I was BBB47) AcId had been my original name because I saw a whole bunch of names where it was capital lowecase capital lowercase etc. I changed it to Acid later because in too many places it looked like Acld. Not good. Later, I tried making Acid like some rabbit that could be playable. I liked the idea of one eye being covered by hair at the time. I don't know why. The first I drew of him he looked more like a dog than a rabbit. He had a round head, (Yes, circle) and no chin hair. (The thing around the mouth area. You can see it in my recent drawings.) I didn't know how to draw the arms, legs and body. Later, when I joined the JCF, I went straight to the everyone's characters thread. I posted a revised version of Acid.
I think a little before I joined the JCF, I found JazzTool and used it to make a funky character. I made a cool looking blue rabbit with a yellow orange rim. I christened him Elektrik, because of the way he was colored. When I posted Acid's profile, I posted that Elektrik was Acid's brother. I began building on Elektrik, and renamed him Electrik. I don't know, it just looks cooler.:D I gave him electrically charged fur, and the ability to harness it and use it to fight. I haven't thought of a weakness yet, though... Hmmm... Maybe he has rubberophobia?
So... There. That's how my characters came to be. There's also snoweybunny, but don't ask about him. He was just my multiplayer dummy before Electrik came along.
Flint LP
Sep 21, 2002, 07:25 PM
I have not written any War Tavern Stories, though I have been in them. My character is loosely based off the Redwall characters, by Brian Jaques. My rabbit is actually a hare, not a rabbit. This is because A) in Redwall there are no rabbits, only hares, and B) I like being a little different. Now I don't know the real difference between a rabbit and hares, but my char is always a little stronger thatn the rest, tougher, and bigger. I like that because maybe Hares are bigger than rabbits, and since I am short, I would like to see what might happen if I weren't. He has no magic whatsoever, cause I personnaly don't like the idea. It is too powerful. My character is a born leader(like me), smart(like me), athletic(like me), and big(<strike>like me</strike>). His weakness is that he cannot weild magic, and it has a strong temporary effect if used against him.( on the other hand, a spell used on him, for him would have a stronger effect as well, like a heal spell would heal a lot more than it should normally.) When I play Jazz 2 he is either white or gray. This is because Flint and snow somehow go together(jut one o' those things, you know...)
And Flint is a type of rock, hence the gray.
Ducky

*wants to split hairs* There actually is a family of rabbiits in one Redwall book, but I don't remember which one.
Batty: I think it's cool to have this here.
I based my character off my rabbit in JJ2. I was grey with sparkley green tips. Working off that, I added some small details like the scar on my arm and my green stripes became electrical powers. My original clothing just popped into my head...and I lived with that for a while. My weapon, the staff with the green stone in the top, was just a random thing that i drew into a picture of my character and I elaborated on it.
When the JMMB shut down a year or so ago I changed my profile. My green stripes were no longer electricity, just sparkley additions to my appearance. I started wearing more civilized clothes which took me about a week to perfect, I began carrying my staff without the green stone that previously shot electricity in the top. My character turned into a sort of wanderer, very plain, nothing special. I guess I just sort of changed Ducky with me, stopped being so fancy and elaborate and just became me. We all changed though, now people don't have the weird powers we used to.
Hehe. I'm getting all nostalgic. Ducky's been around a long time...
Cobra
Sep 22, 2002, 10:54 AM
My character's origin is almost identical to Ducky's. All hail dukki.
Anyway, was red and white in JJ2, and originally Cobra had Spaz coloring but Haze drew her without the red stomach fur and red hair, and I liked that. She's always been on the shortish side and pretty well muscled.
One thing did change, her eyes. Originally they were red with a constant reflection of lots of sparkly stuff, then they changed to being always half-red, the other half changing to her mood. However, I forgot the color combinations for her mood, so now she usually wears red contacts to hide it.
Originally she had a knife she always carried with her and a necklace she always wore, but as time went on the necklace was lost (maybe will write about it later) and the knife was put aside. She also lost most of her fire-summoning time, and mind-controlling powers, left with only shards she can't controll.
Once I got interested in karate, Cobra lost her magic abilities and depended more upon her fists and staves. She went from being a magical alien rabbit to a paranoid white-knight type person, suffering the same things I suffered.

Like Ducky (hails, btw :D), I based one of my characters off of my JJ2 character, Jack Flash. He's everything I wish I could be: a leader, strong, confident, and always ready to go do something. Even roast stuff. (yay!)
One of my OTHER characters, Wizard of Odds, is based off my self self. Knowledgable about most things, handy with computers, and able to produce things out of a nearby source (in Wizard's case, his backpack) at the blink of a hat. Er, drop of an eye. Er er... *shoots himself*
Firefox is what my friend wanted him to be. Muscular and triggerhappy. I added the rest. Now he's the muscular, triggerhappy, leadership-type Outpost 12 Captain of today.
Headcheese is R.O.A.R.'s answer to Spaz Jackrabbit. 'Nuff said.
And Blaze... well, I can't remember how I thought of Blaze. I just knew that spies are cool, and rabbits are cool, and a spyrabbit would be cooler, and hence was Blaze. (btw, the name is another one of those Jazz Jackrabbit name modifications. Think Haze Hackrabbit with Bl.)
Hoo dear, now I'm late for school... :(
DDay
Sep 23, 2002, 08:08 AM
My appearance first came from what a totally-red jazz w/ white gun and headband looks like in the game... since I'm not so good, I gradually moved away from the gun (its last incarnation was a strange beam thing) and gave myself a staff, inspired by Ark of Terranigma, that classic RPG. At the same time, I was getting more interested in the magic users of the time (what with The Way of Wizards and MtG and all that cal); and so I adjusted my costume to be more plain (like the wizards) but kept my flamboyant color.
As for my personality, came out of a few things. I extremely dislike the flippant superheroic personalities, preferring something closer to a Spiderman sense of responsibility. I also like heroes that are half-villainous, but wanting to be not so evil I made myself an ex-villain. This nicely ties in with my RL personality of wanting to "fix the problem instead of the blame". Weird foods... hey, I like foods that most people don't , and it fits for a character quirk.
Magic abilities... the most recent incarnation. Before, I didn't have them, just lore. (I did this because a lot of wizards don't have any flashy magic abilities, just knowledge.) However, to make my character a bit closer to a "trickster"/Dr. Strange type and keep it from getting too powerful, I gave it magic powers that would be weak if used to be "powerful", and strong if used in a Coyote/Monkey/Trickster fashion to supplement plans. The partial/total summoning thing came from a great webcomic, Tsunami Channel, and its action-segment heroine Magical Mina.
Other background details come from various unfinished stuff. I continue to try and make my character a supporting character, at best. (I sincerely hope I'm not shaming NightFire by continuing to mention him in my description :( )
Oh yeah! DDay, the name... well, I typed something out at random and it became my name. Eh heh. :D

I quit reading that 2/3rds of the way... you have wayyy too many characters.
I have two.
Kaz: I like birds, so I worked offa Kazooie for this one and added some of my jj2 traits (hacking, paranoia and other things). I guess he's annoying sometimes (hyper me if I ever get hyper), hacks things (although I'm far behind Link and Overlord becuase of ghey XP and it's anti-hacks).
I didn't like too much offensive magic, or being the strong guy, I like being fast, evasive, and able to block. So usually I just have a "Yosho" shield or two in stories and people should see that in combat I'm suppoused to be a distraction and draw fire or something. I put in the shield becuase if a bird isn't strong, it should be evasive and defened (they have hollow bones O.o). SAM I'm still wondering about becuase computers are fun, I'm decent with them (in todays field of jj2), so I probably won't write with "her" as a God Tool.
Samuel Johnson: Heheh, yeah, I like the name Sam for some odd reason and need to change my name to that when I'm over 18. This is a rabbit character I made but not normal. He's not strong, he's not very good in fighting (but in combat...). I won't tell why, he hates mirrors, water puddles, reflective stuff, doesn't eat much, and always seems to come out of nowhere (I'm really good at being silent). Most people see him, and he always seems to have some kind of story on something (I tend to know about things in class no matter what subject it is (except history but contrary to SJ><)). I went for a spaz look, changed teh fur to silver, a little taller, the fur is a bit shabby, a light green gun and alternating shoes. Some of you may figure it out and some may not.

Let's see, here... Yes, folks the best way to say how this story started is by reading the Prologue of Zafitariers Quest I, and of Zafitariers Quest II. If you still don't understand, i'll say how I started.
Zafitariers Quest I: http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showthread.php?threadid=416
Zafitariers Quest II: http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showthread.php?threadid=5733
BTW, read both stories. Trust me, at least one of them are good.

I joined a WT story and needed a character, so I just quickly thought up a rabbit (colored blue and white cuz that's how I used to have my rabbit when playing JJ2) and everything he has, I pretty much just made up on the spot. That's probably why he's not very creative. :D

Coppertop is me. Not Shade.
So. I came up with me as a sort of combination of my favorite things. I like the colors silver, green and black, so it was sort of natural that I should have a grey rabbit with green eyes and black hair. I had to come up with something that would work with her name, so I decided on a copper-colored head-scarf.
Originally she had a green longsleeved shirt and brown pants, but then I gave her a black vest to go over the shirt and changed her pants to black ...
I like swords, and it was sort of natural to give her an enchanted sword like Shale. Originally she also had a bow and a warhorse but I got rid of those. So here I am...
Well, my online name is nobody....
I guess how I came up with how nobody acts and what nobody looks like is rather self explanitory.

Quo Avek asked me one day if I wanted to be in his story, so I made up this blue bunny guy on the fly, since I liked blue as a color and all that. And so, that's how Doc Jones came to be.
He evolved and another character was based off him, one unrelated to the JJ universe.
MoonBlazE
Dec 26, 2002, 02:05 PM
Moonblaze is a very very weird made up character. He was made up what I never had. If you aren't intrested in hear things about my life and feelings, skip this post.
It all started from when I was a kid. We lived a silly place, there was loads of troubles with the eighteens, they took over the playgrounds, ****ed and made graphity on the walls. Really harshley.
Anyway, it was a hard time, so I needed something to look up to for take all this.
On this time, sonic the hedgehog series was running on the TV, and of curse, I feel for it.
I stayed with sonic many years, brought games about him. I was basicly a sonic fan.
He could do all the stuff I couldn't do, like run fast, being cool, defeat the bad guys. Give sense, eh?
So, later, after we moved, around 1997, my mom saw this game about a green rabbit. She had hard that game number one of it was pretty releated to Sonic, so she brought it to me.
I was fasinated by Jazz2. It was amazing. I never discovered internet play before a half year later, where I came online as "dont shot me", but somehow, in blue colors.
Long time went on, untill that day I'd met Skulg. Around a year to two.
By explore her website I learned how you could create my own character, I made up air wolf. He was grey, with wolf teechs.
He was supported to be fast as sonic himself. But sinice he wasen't enough releated to sonic, I dissed him.
So, now, around the time where Skulg and I began talk via mesengers, I drew up a blue version of air wolf, and added him wolf claws, eyerings, and called him after my own nick, Moonblaze.
Over the time, I managed to request Skulg. She added and spiffed up my character. There he was completed.
What Moonblaze completely done is not releated, he can have magic powers aswell not. I always thought of him as the last hope. Just like sonic.
So short told. My character is made up on sonic because I am such a freak. ;P
If you'd read the story, I thank you. Feel mercy with me, I had to tell it.

How I came up with my character... well, I just... wanted to draw myself. Yep.
First I had one character named Scary Sarry.. she was based on my real self and on what I want to be.
Not long ago I split her into <a href="http://www.jazz2online.com/jcf/showthread.php?s=&postid=79519#post79519">two characters</a>, Scary Sarry, my me-character, who has to deal with school and stuff, and Scaria Morgana, kinda an idol for me.
There'll probably be a third one soon... dunno yet.
I have the feeling that I'm schizophrene.
