Batty: Thankies. ^-^

Hmm, the only critics I have are IMO and may not even be valid to professionals. (The reason I don't use Moz is becuase there isn't enough to complain about ^^).

1)The lower part of the cheek looks... _? I don't know...
2) The eyelashes needs clarification of some sort becusae it looks like her right eye has a black eyelid.
3) Her cheek is too huge or it could just be an illusion.

Wildie, there's only one difference between a photograph of this woman and your airbrush portrait...

Your's looks better :p .

FreeLance
Nov 4, 2002, 05:03 PM
Amen to the cheek thing, but I think that's just the way it looks cos of the angle.

Wild Angel
Nov 4, 2002, 06:20 PM
Eyelashes seem to be so difficult, I dunno why! You think, okay, get a 1 pixel brush and just sweep them in. Then they look like she had a bad episode with the mascara.

And yeah, it's the angle she's at. I sort of thought about that, but I've been looking at that picture too much.

Well, you sit on your butt for 7 hours, sketch out the basic stuff. Come back after you take time to eat and extract your butt from the chair, sit back down, work. Sleep. Work. Sleep. Work. Sleep. Perfect. Sleep. Work, eat, extract bum from chair... finish.

Enough said.

Then go outside and let that bright yellow ball restore you from your "living zombie" state... /\:p/\

Still, like I said before, the results seem more then worth the effort.

Whoo...hm,I like your art better than Jezebel's,Wildie!^_~

MY idol's are Noogy and Stephanie Dobos aka Kayikoni (http://kayikoni.deviantart.com/)...
I know her art isn't nearly as good as those others you've mentioned, but I won't even DARE get THAT good idols...
Makes me feel like some lil nothing under the giant foot of eternity...XD
And she draws the kewlest furries!:D

Que Passa!!!!

Would you believe that one time when I drew a stickman, I in fact gave him a lot of detail, and he ended up looking almost 3D? Thats how wierd I am.

Oh, and since we're naming heros: Mine are(In order of their influance in me)
Ed Emberly (The guy who's books taught me to see the world in simple shapes.)
Antonio Prohias (The cold war is over, but the lukewarm war rages on.)
Jacob Lawrence (My grandma knew the guy personally.)
William Hanna/Joe Barbara (Cause Hanna Barbara is just plain cool.)
And Frank Brunner (THIS guy's work is AMAZING... I could never emulate it, but I can still idolise it, right?)

As for NON famous people who I like, practically anyone with a warped way of looking at things, and a sense of humor is worth looking up to.

Wild Angel

I love Jezebel's stuff.

She makes excellent use of the gaussian blur.

Ugh, one truly time consuming factor- in that picture there are about, eh, fifty layers. Heh... it's not so simple as just blobbing colour, smuding it around, and saying it looks good like god. ;p

I guess I have idols like them because I want to be good or better than them, lol. I look up to them and respect them because this isn't easy work like some think. It's very time and patience consuming.

I feel small and stupid at times, hai. But it just makes me want to be better? If that makes any sense.

And now I feel really stupid, I haven't heard of many of the people you mentioned, Batty. *blushes n' stuff*

I want to draw figures, so I'm going to work alot on my next deviation, which I have a very simple sketch of. An elf in a crimson dress with simple silver hair infront of a window. >.>; The sketch was originally a practice with cloth and the way it falls. Thank god for books. Without them, I'd be lost.

And speaking of which, I need to fix my sucky sig picture. The eye looks flat and I've thought that for some time. I just haven't gotten my lazy bum up from bed and worked on it.

Since I'm bored I might as well type long posts...

Alkmenel, he's so cool. He's very modest with his art, which I find so great compared to mine. I look at mine as crap of the month. I'm still learning and I've only been doing what I do for a year. He spends days on his, and those are sketches. I look upon his art with amazement, I'd never be able to do that. Not days. Not one sketch. I spend weeks on my stuff, but that's not sketches. I lose patience and try hard and fast to get it done with sketches. Alkmenel thinks I'm good (yes, we talk regularly, heh) but I still say he's so much better...

I've never talked to Jezebel. 0.o; She seems very modest and a very cool person, though. Her art is so realistic, too.

When I was chatting with Assiah, she has to be one of the coolest anime artist to grace the world of DevART. If you think it sucks, being those are pencil drawn sketches (I asked her what program she used to get such clean, fluent lines once. lol... she told me she did them by hand and it annoyed her art teacher. My god it makes me respect her 10x more. I tried to do what she does, but I need something on my wrist so the GD lead doesn't smudge all over the page.

Anyways, that concludes my artist overview of the day.

Lol, I do notice you. I just posted that at the same time you posted yours. >.>;

See, for some reason, I don't like furries as much as everything else. One more reason I refuse to comment on them. That's all. *shrugs casually* Don't bash me for it, that's just my opinion. You hold yours.

I believe some furry art can be very well thought and artistic, though. Until then, rock on, dudes.

It all takes practice, sweetie. All practice. I've been drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil in my hand against paper. I'm also taking serious art lessons on things, but my head is also always in books, soaking up knowledge as usual.

My ICQ number I can never remember, try looking in my profile. Heh..

Que Passa!!!!

And now I feel really stupid, I haven't heard of many of the people you mentioned, Batty. *blushes n' stuff*

Here's what they are famous for.

Ed Emberly: Wrote a series of "How to draw" books in which he showed how you can use a total of 7 simple shapes (A circle, a line, a curve, a half-circle, an angle, a dot, and a scribble.) to draw practically anything.

Antonio Prohias: Cuban born. Wrote many anticommunist cartoons before recieving a death threat from Fedel Castro and fleeing to America where he joined up with Mad Magazine and created the duo Spy Vs. Spy. Died in 1999, and I haven't read a Mad magazine since in honor of him- and I never will again.

Jacob Lawrence: A very talented African-american abstract artist. Also died recently(1998, I believe.)

William Hanna: Co founder of Hanna Barbara and creater of such characters as Yogi Bear, Scooby Doo, and Tom and Jerry.

Frank Brunner: An astounding fantisy artist who drew a lot of Howard the Duck comics. I got his autograph just two days ago- he's a nice guy. (I'd try to emulate his work, but I suck at drawing humans.)
