View Full Version : 1fps Problem

It seems as if I've had a lot of technical problems lately, and this is the latest one. Whenever I host or join a server in JJ2 and there is at least one other person in the server, my frame rates are unplayable (generally 0fps, with one or two bursts of 1fps, mostly at the beginning.) This never happens if I'm the only one in the server, but immediately when someone joins, it reverts to this low FPS. When I actually get playable frame rates (which doesn't happen very often) they generally are very erratic, going from 40fps to 5fps and back in about a second. This problem is preventing me from playing Jazz 2. 1.24 acts the same way. I'm running a Pentium II at 450MHz with 64MB of RAM, a Diamond Viper V550 graphics card (which is based on the nVidia TNT2 chip I believe), and Windows 98 Second Edition. This occurs even when only Explorer is running in the background, and closing programs doesn't help. Any ideas?

Now I know I asked you before, but I can't remember whether you answered me: Do you get this problem with two or more players in local splitscreen mode?

Because we really need to know that to decide how to go about solving this

Split screen plays fine. At thought, I first that it might be Jazz 2 handling the sprites strangely, but that can't be it. Single player is also fine. It seems to only happen during Internet play.

After some long-term use, it seems that this problem gets even worse when I use control alt delete on any program, even if I give it enough time to gain stability before running JJ2. Any ideas?

Get a new computer.

Glad I could help.

I agree, tic. Or you could just reformat your computer... Or you might have a virus... Is anything else internet related acting stupid?

I dobut that this problem is a virus. No virus that I know of lowers frame rates in Jazz 2, let alone any other game. ;-P

I'm trying to get a new computer, but it will be two months, which would be a long time without JJ2, so that isn't much help. ;P
