Hey, don't forget another useful program you can use for your tilesets and PSP.
Palette Suite
This program lets you customize, change, or move around colors in the 8-bit palette.
Try in combination with making your tilesets.

Yep, I use that for textured bg's and to re order the pallette. It's easy, just put two boxes open and cut and paste. Great program by Toxic Bunny :)

If anyone's interested, I'm working on a Linux version. I'm rewriting the whole thing in C++, so it will be alot faster.
However, I don't know what good it's going to be for a Windows JCS...
Anyway, I've discovered yet another palette format, so stay tuned for a new windows version.

I draw most of my sets in Windows. However, I could give the GIMP a try.

And when the sourcecode comes out (if it does), it may be possible to port JCS. I don't think it uses DirectX.

I think WINE supports some DirectX. Some should be enough for JCS if it does use DX. It could even be enough for JJ2.
I can't see for myself because WINE requires glibc 2 and I've got glibc 1.2. From what I've read, upgrading seems terrifying.

Ah yes. I've heard that too. I don't know from experience though, as I STILL don't have a linux box. (I had one before... long story why I don't anymore :/)

That should be possible, you can even run Jazz2 without DirectX (except for you don't have any sound). If I'm right.

I'm not sure about that, but I'll take your word for it. And I think I remember Pennywise saying he could play JJ2 using WINE. But I'm not sure..

Jazz 2 doesn't just use DirectSound (and it can also use windows sound anyway) it also uses DirectDraw.
P.S. installing glibc 2 might not be as daunting as it at first appeared.

I'm going to try to install wine to.

Grrr... It turns out I did have glibc 2 after all.
I went and downloaded about 20Mb of glibc 2 at 4k/s for no reason!
Ah well, at least it should work. Should.
P.S. I can run Palette Suite 2 and JCS (but can't load levels). I haven't been able to get JJ2 to work yet.
