DoS Attack

[Trafton]

Right now, a DoS attack is being performed against the Jazz 2 list server. This is when a group of people ping the list server in great volume, causing slowdown or even crash. So far, the list server has only been slowed down moderately, but depending on the size and involvement of the attack, it may slow to a crawl or even crash. This is not a test attack, and is being preformed by an organized group. Until then, I would recommend not relying on the list server for urgent games and instead trading IPs. There is no word on how long this will last nor how many people are involved, but I would say the number is probably below ten right now. This may change. Regardless of what happens, the list server will probably be quite slow for the rest of the night (starting from 12:30 GMT roughly). Again, the list server may be down for a while, or at least slow down significantly. Do not rely on the list server for hosting urgent matches, and instead exchange IPs.

EDIT: As of this edit, 12:32 AM GMT, the list server had now slowed down much at all, and was running quite well.

To even crash the list server for a while (Burger, very nicely, repairs it quickly despite not even having to) would require a much greater amount of people involved.

Alright. Let me get this straight. They were performing a DoS (Denial of Service) through the DOS (Disk-based Operating System / MSDOS) PING command. From now on, I'll refer to Denial of Service as DoS (note the lowercase O) and DOS (the operating system) as MSDOS. They were using the MSDOS ping command to perform a DoS (Denial of Service) on the list servers.

Edit: This is fairly new to me, so I probably will make some technical mistake along the road here. Feel free to correct me if so.

Easily, Jazz does not control me. I'm not playing it every waking minute. And for a game, the term would be "addiction" Jazz determines nothing in my life, I can easily say that about most the others in the community. It's a game, we play it when we feel like it. We aren't forced to play it hoping for acceptance. Sure there are some people that aren't fun to be around, but you don't have give them your full attention.

But, I'm just curious. When will be the time you do what you feel is right instead of what you want others to do? As a community, have we ever tried to hack you guys and crash your computers? #1, Derby is a person just like everyone else here.
#2, not everyone likes fowl language and this board is meant for people of all ages.
#3, if you read the agreements, you agree to have people change inappropiate posts.

If you don't like any of the ways things are run here. It not our choice if you stay or go. Everyone here can stay or go as they please. So how is that an example of us being controlled? I just fail to see it here. Sure, there are clans, but they aren't forcing you to do anything that you don't want to. If they try, they aren't popular, and you can just leave. The same goes for all aspects of this game and site. This is on an individual decision point. I don't see Bob, Fquist, or even Derby, for that matter, telling you that you have to stay that you have to do this or that. Nor the rest of the moderator or administrators. They just inforce the rules to help ensure that as many people as possible are happy. Its not possible to make everyone happy because thats their own personal choice.

First, yes, JJ2 Will get boring after a while. However, it has been around for nearly FIVE YEARS, and will probably be around for longer.
Second, this is in no way a "Teen Fad". A decent amount of the players, if not the majority, are not teens, and the word "Fad" usually applies to things that are more popular.
Third, just because something is bound to get boring after a while, is no reason to try to destroy it before its time.
