View Full Version : JCF Link from J2O

I was just thinking about how there are so many people that are registered on J2O and go on it quite frequently that have never registered for the JCF, and I came to the conclusion that it might be that it is so hard to find. Other than the small "Forums" link on the menu bar, there is not much of anything that links to the JCF. Not everyone knows what "Forums" means, and many just think it is probably inactive. I think giving the JCF more of a reperesentation on the main page might increase signups and activity. I can imagine that some people wanting to get Jazz 2 information don't even notice the tiny forums link. Is there any chance that you could make the JCF link a little more noticable? Perhaps a large button towards the top? After all, it is much of what makes J2O so active, and it would be nice to see some new members. :)

I agree too. Read my post l8r.
(I) come to JCF and waste tonnes of space. I hate to say it but about (one person) on J20 has a useless n00b account. We're not just talking about n00b as in jazz, but common sense n00b.
People like (caller IDs) make JCF a bad place.
Grammar, questions, common sense. He posted the same content asking the same thing 3 times.
Derby: Offensive content replacement/removal. The offensive nature of your posts is absolutely intolerable. Do not think about posting again without having reviewed the guidelines.

Red, I don't think bad grammar is a good reason to be blamed on. People from over the whole world visit this place, and many from countries where they barely learn English. Anyone should be allowed to ask questions, no matter what age or english skills. Though they should behave theirselves a bit more, indeed. They're acting like childs, you're right there. But I just wanted to say that you can _not_ get mad at people because of their English, in my opinion.

Yes. The JCF does need to be noticed more. If I didn't know already, I would never find it. Some times I forget where it is.
The same reason applies to why I was using J2C im December 1998 and joined the JMMB December 1999, a year later.

I do not think there is any way of stopping players who would use bad grammar from coming from the board, but I still think we need the link more out in the open. It could bring in more "n00bs" (which really shouldn't be use as an offensive term), but it will also bring in new players. We've all done something that may be considered n00bish in our playing career, so insulting them really doesn't make sense. ;P

I think that if we advertise this more it may become bigger...
That and JJ3 coming out may raise the JCF population. :)

Most of the people who hate newbies, no matter who they are or what they do (the people who started using the term n00bs here in the first place) are gone. I think.

JJ3 probably is not coming out. The J2O is being advertised, but I think that very few of those people end up on the JCF. I'm not sure exactly how many J2O members there are, but there are a whole lot that just have not signed up for the JCF at all. If we attract them, we might be able to get them to stay in the community.

lol spam..
N00b! I still say that, but I attempt to use it in a non-detogortary way. I use it to smack the new people down if they try to step out of line too far. :)

We've all been new at one point. Calling them N00Bs, no matter how you intend it, will make them feel bad about themselves as players. They will leave if this is done. But that's off-topic.
The point is that it's hard to notice JCF from the main page. :P

I remember the the banner at the bottom of the mainpage, which used to link to Lori Central..Or is it still there?
Whatever, what about that?
And what about the top buttons? They're unused at the moment, but if you'd make on called 'Forums', made it a valid link, I think it should work..

The next post you edit will be your last :: angry smiley ::
hehe =-)
anyway.... I'm not saying those with bad grammar are bad. I do realise some people are from other countries. Believe me, I sympathise. Let's not go back to My Story heh. What I'm saying is that some people are a bit "stupid". I'm not saying that all n00bs are. We all were some time. People come around and ask, WHERE IS JAZZ DOWNLOADS? HOW DO YOU MAKE TILESET? and they never give a good explanation, just a really brief question. This is like some stupid spam boards I visit. I'm not saying Fireboy is a good example, but look, he posted 3 times after no-one replied in 1 minute. Not saying these people are stupid, but they should calm themselves.
Thanx, and Derby, if you edit this you're (my best friend) >:-)
Derby: User humiliation.
Which is WHY we call them n00bs...because they are new. Anyone who has ever visited a well done message board such as the JCF know that it takes time for replies to come and wouldn't post 3 times wondering where everyone is at. They also stereotypically won't research whatever question they have to see if it has already been answered. But that is something that you just have to deal with.
Besides, usually and hopefully with time they will become a little more knowledgable about the way things are and work, and then they are no longer n00bs. Everyone was a n00b once...and in order to grow you have to get n00bs that will become more experienced and "mature".
Bad grammar and all of that is just a result of language barriers and AOL. In fact, AOL invented all languages except for English in order to make everyone else annoyed. So hate AOL, not its innocent victims.
